Due to the impact of storm Fengshen (storm No. 12), on the morning of October 20, the sea off the coast of Quang Ngai had North to Northwest winds gradually increasing to level 6, gusting to level 7 - 8; wave height 2.5 - 3.5m, rough seas. The Sa Ky - Ly Son passenger transport routes had to temporarily suspend operations to ensure the safety of residents and tourists.

Mr. Nguyen Van Huy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ly Son Special Zone, said that Ly Son Special Zone is about 15 nautical miles from the mainland. In the face of the storm's potential prolonged rough sea situation, the People's Committee has encouraged and requested people to proactively stock up on food and essential foodstuffs. Grocery stores and shops have been encouraged to increase their reserves, ensuring supplies for at least a month.

Particularly on Be Island, the government has prepared a reserve of 1 ton of rice to promptly support people when the sea situation is rough and isolated. The supply of essential goods on Ly Son special economic zone remains stable, meeting daily needs.

Mr. Huy added that the People's Committee of Ly Son Special Economic Zone also directed agencies and units to regularly inspect stores, and that there was no speculation, hoarding of goods, or price increases. In recent years, modern means of transport, along with timely monitoring of sea weather, have helped to proactively supply food, fuel, and gas more conveniently.

According to the Quang Ngai Province Hydrometeorological Station, from the night of October 21 to October 22, coastal waters (including Ly Son special zone) are likely to have strong winds up to level 7, gusts of level 8-9, rough seas, while waters off the coast of Quang Ngai are likely to have strong winds up to level 8, sometimes level 9, gusts of level 10, very rough seas.

All ships, boats and aquaculture cages operating in the above dangerous areas are susceptible to the impact of storms, whirlwinds, strong winds and big waves.

On the mainland of Quang Ngai province, due to the influence of storm circulation No. 12 combined with cold air, there is a high possibility of widespread heavy rain from October 22 to 29. It is necessary to prepare a response plan for the scenario of floods on rivers in Quang Ngai province that may reach alert level 2-3 and exceed alert level 3. The forecast level of natural disaster risk due to floods and inundations is level 3.
