On October 20, the People's Committee of Thuong Phuoc commune, Dong Thap province, said that the anti-erosion embankment project in Thuong Phuoc commune had just experienced land subsidence.

Specifically, at about 9:30 a.m. the same day, a landslide occurred at the Tien River embankment in Thuong Phuoc commune ( Dong Thap province), causing the entire embankment slope with a length of 35m to collapse, and the entire sidewalk with a length of 15m to collapse, about 350m downstream from the old landslide site.

Currently, the local authorities have barricaded and installed warning signs in the landslide area and continue to send forces on duty, closely monitor the development and situation of the landslide, and promptly report emergency situations. At the same time, traffic regulation is organized to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.

According to the People's Committee of Thuong Phuoc Commune, this embankment is also a vital traffic route connecting to the new Hong Ngu - Tan Chau ferry terminal. Therefore, if landslides continue to occur, it will affect the travel and freight needs of the people.

Previously, Mr. Tran Tri Quang, Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee signed 2 decisions to issue an Order to build urgent works for the Project to urgently overcome landslides on Tien River (the area of ​​​​Tien River bank erosion prevention embankment, Thuong Phuoc commune and Nguyen Huong street (Tan Tich hamlet and Tinh Hung hamlet), Cao Lanh ward, Dong Thap province).

Emergency construction order for the Tien River Bank Erosion Repair Project in Dong Thap Province with a total length of about 890m, including the embankment lock, construction time from the date of order issuance to December 31, 2026.

Mr. Tran Tri Quang assigned the Department of Finance to coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment and related units to advise and propose to the Provincial People's Committee on funding sources to overcome subsidence according to the provisions of the law on public investment, the law on state budget and related legal provisions.
