Giving "Vietnamese Bookcase" to students in Switzerland

On October 15, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - Ho Chi Minh City National University organized a ceremony to present the "Vietnam Bookcase" and other items typical of Vietnamese culture and history to the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland. Attending the event was comrade Nguyen Ho Hai, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

Speaking at the awarding ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Mai Thanh Phong, Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said that the “Vietnam Bookshelf” is a valuable source of documents built by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology to present to students of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland in particular and the Swiss people in general.

Accordingly, the “Vietnam Bookcase” includes 47 books, 4 paintings and 6 typical gifts introducing the unique features of Vietnamese culture and history to international friends. The bookcase includes many books and magazines, novels, pictures, and typical Vietnamese items to provide readers with detailed information about the history, culture and society of Vietnam.

In particular, the bookshelf has famous novels and short stories of Vietnamese literature. Some of these works have been translated into English. From there, it helps readers better understand the life and psychology of Vietnamese people through the periods from the past to the present.

The bookcase also has pictures and typical Vietnamese items such as: ao dai, ao tu than, ao ba ba and khan ran, conical hat, lotus, bronze drums, etc. to help readers see more clearly about Vietnamese art and culture. The “Vietnamese Bookcase” will be located at the library of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland.

The event of presenting the “Vietnam Bookcase” not only strengthens the educational cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland, but is also an opportunity for both sides to exchange cultures, so that the host country can better understand the culture, people and history of Vietnam.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland have been cooperating for nearly 20 years. The two schools have cooperated in training under the MBA-MCI program (Master of Business Administration program).
