HTNL - a 5th grade student at Co Dam Primary School (Co Dam Commune, Ha Tinh Province) is being treated at Vinh City General Hospital in a state of positive progress. Previously, after being brutally beaten by his stepfather, Nguyen Van Nam, with his hands, a wooden stick, and especially two hammer blows to the head, he was transferred from the commune health station to a higher level in a state of multiple injuries and mental panic.

Detailed testimony of stepfather abusing 5th grade girl in Ha Tinh
Doctors and staff of the Trauma and Neurosurgery Department (Vinh City General Hospital) said that after receiving the child, he was taken for a comprehensive scan and examination. The head wound, suspected to have been caused by a hammer and nail, was stitched. The soft tissue injuries spread from the chest, arms, thighs to the back. Fortunately, the child did not suffer any brain damage but needed long-term psychological monitoring. The child is now able to eat pho, fruit, receive IV fluids and chat gently with the nurse.
According to Dr. Nguyen Quoc Hai - Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology (Vinh City General Hospital), in addition to soft tissue damage, HTNL also has signs of rib fracture. This is an injury that requires a long recovery time, it can take several months to heal completely. Rib fractures cause pain and limit movement, especially for young children like L. who need careful care to avoid complications. Currently, the team of doctors and nurses is closely monitoring the child's health, checking regularly to ensure the best recovery process.

Dr. Hai also said that if after a week of treatment at the hospital, the child's health is stable, he can be discharged and continue to be monitored and cared for at home. The family should pay attention to keeping the child rest properly, avoid strenuous exercise and have regular check-ups to ensure the wound heals completely.
L. is recovering under the dedicated care of doctors and medical staff. He is eating better, his mental state is gradually stabilizing and he can converse gently with people around him.
"Every day, I wake up at 6:30, prepare my school supplies, and ride my bike to school. After school, I often help my parents with housework, cook, and take care of my younger siblings. My stepfather has scolded me many times, beaten me with an electric wire, and hit me on the head with a hammer, but I didn't dare tell my mother because I was afraid that if I told her, my stepfather would beat me harder. I just sat alone and cried silently," L. said.

When recounting these things, her voice was soft and slow, her eyes were red. She said she missed her mother very much, wished she would come home soon so she could hug her. She said she was good at math and dreamed of becoming a math teacher in the future. That was the only thing that made L. smile amidst the pain in her body.
According to Mrs. Tran Thi Huong (the biological mother of Nguyen Van Nam - L.'s stepfather), since he was a child, Nam was abused by his biological father and was also beaten on the head with a hammer, so he has an erratic temperament, is quiet, has a hot temper and is addicted to alcohol. However, Mrs. Huong said she had no idea that L. was beaten so often, and when the incident happened, she was very surprised and shocked.

From a good student with beautiful dreams, L. now has to temporarily leave school, lying on a hospital bed with a body full of bruises, a bandaged head, and eyes still in panic. In the hospital room, L. is being cared for and closely monitored by doctors and nurses. Not only focusing on treating the wound, the medical team also focuses on psychological support, helping the child gradually stabilize his mind and avoid long-term trauma.
