Recently, a male tourist slapped a wild monkey in the face while visiting Thien Lang Mountain Tourist Area (Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, China).
The shared image shows that, realizing he was being attacked, the monkey immediately jumped out of his seat and kicked hard. The unexpected incident caused the man to fall because he was unable to dodge in time.
The male tourist’s actions angered many people. Some said that the monkey’s response was reasonable given the man’s disdain for animals.

Responding to the press about this incident, the management board of the tourist area warned that tourists should not tease wild monkeys.
While visiting, people should keep a distance of at least 3 meters, and absolutely do not try to take objects that the monkeys are holding. Bites and scratches caused by monkeys can pose a potential health risk.
According to statistics, in the past 5 years, there have been more than 13,000 monkey attacks and injuries to visitors to Thien Lang mountain.
To ensure safety, the Management Board has installed signs to warn tourists. If monkeys are seen approaching tourists, staff will remind them. After the above incident, staff will increase inspections and install more warning signs.
Previously, in August, a female tourist was also attacked while feeding bananas to monkeys at Thien Lang mountain.
