Lo Lo Chai Village (Tuyen Quang Province) and Quynh Son Community Tourism Village (Lang Son Province) are two representatives that have just received the " World's Best Tourist Village 2025" Award from the United Nations Tourism Organization.

The UN Tourism “Best Tourist Village” award aims to enhance the role of tourism in protecting rural villages, including landscapes, knowledge systems, biodiversity and culture, local activities including agriculture, forestry, livestock, fisheries and cuisine .

Up to now, Vietnam has had 05 tourist villages recognized by UN Tourism as “Best Tourist Villages,” including Tan Hoa Village (Quang Tri), Thai Hai Village (Thai Nguyen), Tra Que Vegetable Village (Da Nang), Lo Lo Chai Village (Tuyen Quang) and Quynh Son Community Tourism Village (Lang Son).

On December 29, 2022, UN Tourism announced the list of 32 best tourist villages in the world. Thai Hai ethnic stilt house ecological village conservation area in Thai Nguyen is the only representative of Vietnam to be honored.

Nestled among the lush green hills of Thai Nguyen, Thai Hai is not only a tourist village but also a unique cultural reserve of the Tay ethnic group.

With more than 30 traditional stilt houses preserved in their original state, this place gives the feeling of being lost in a past land. Thai Hai stands out with its cool green space, peaceful lakes and small paths leading through the forest.

Visitors can immerse themselves in the daily life of the Tay people, participate in weaving, pottery making or learn how to cook traditional dishes. Not only stopping at preserving culture, Thai Hai also cleverly combines the resort element with activities such as yoga in the middle of nature, meditation, helping you regain energy and balance your life.

According to the National Tourism Administration, UN Tourism has recognized the rich and outstanding cultural and natural resources of Tan Hoa village. In addition, the village's commitments and actions on sustainable tourism development are also factors that helped Tan Hoa be honored.

On October 19, 2023, UN Tourism announced Tan Hoa as "The best tourist village in the world in 2023".

Considered the "flood center" of Quang Tri province, in 2010, Tan Hoa witnessed a historic flood with water levels rising 12 meters, submerging most of the houses. Villagers had to evacuate to caves and cliffs to take shelter.

In 2011, Tan Hoa residents built floating houses to live with the flood and improved them into floating houses in 2012 so that people could live normally during the flood.

Currently, Tan Hoa has more than 600 floating houses built 100% with donations from "generous donors". Tan Hoa has also developed a model of experiencing flood season tourism.

Tan Hoa has also made a special impression on domestic and foreign tourists with its sustainable tourism model. Local people have taken advantage of the inherent natural beauty, along with support from conservation organizations, to build discovery tours that do not harm the environment.

A typical example is the Tu Lan cave exploration tour - which brings a sense of adventure and amazement at the majestic beauty of this cave system. Visitors to Tan Hoa not only admire the pristine nature but also have the opportunity to learn about the unique culture of the local people here through festivals and intimate family meals.

Tra Que Vegetable Village (Da Nang)

On November 15, 2024, Tra Que Vegetable Village (Da Nang) is the only representative of Vietnam to be honored in the 2024 Best Tourist Village Network of the United Nations Tourism Organization - UN Tourism.

The UN Tourism Best Tourist Village Award for Tra Que Vegetable Village (Da Nang) is a recognition of the efforts in preserving indigenous cultural values; traditional crafts; long-standing lifestyles; creativity and focus on developing sustainable, community-based tourism and services; demonstrating the kindness and hospitality of local people.

Formed in the 16th century and located 3km from Hoi An ancient town towards the sea, Tra Que vegetable village has the characteristics of a river island near the sea. The village is surrounded by Co Co river and Tra Que lagoon, providing a mild climate and fertile soil, creating favorable conditions for the people here to create and develop the traditional organic vegetable growing profession.

In April 2022, the vegetable growing profession in Tra Que was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage, belonging to the category of folk knowledge and traditional handicrafts.

Currently, Tra Que village has 202 households participating in vegetable growing activities on 18 hectares of cultivated land, bringing in a stable source of income.

Coming to Tra Que, visitors not only get to see the lush green vegetable beds but also experience being a farmer. Visitors can participate in activities such as watering, hoeing or harvesting vegetables under the guidance of local people.

In addition, Tra Que is also an ideal place to relax and immerse yourself in the peaceful countryside. Cycling around the small roads, enjoying rustic meals made from fresh vegetables right in the garden, or participating in cooking classes are experiences not to be missed.

In Tra Que village, historical relics such as Cham stone well, Tho Than Temple, Ngu Hanh Temple, Nguyen Van Dien's Tomb... or Cau Bong worship ceremony along with customs, practices, beliefs, culinary culture are being preserved and promoted effectively, proving the village's long-standing development process.

On October 17, 2025, the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) announced that Lo Lo Chai village (Tuyen Quang) won the award "World's Best Tourist Village 2025".

Lo Lo Chai village in Lung Cu commune, Tuyen Quang province, is located amidst majestic natural scenery combined with the unique cultural identity of the Lo Lo people.

This place preserves many unique cultural values ​​of the Lo Lo people with ancient yin-yang tiled roofed rammed earth houses.

People here still preserve traditional crafts, weave brocade costumes with sophisticated patterns, organize festivals to pray for good crops, housewarming ceremonies and many community activities typical of the Lo Lo people.

In recent years, the people of Lo Lo Chai have changed dramatically, developing a community tourism model. The ancient houses have been renovated to suit tourists but still retain their traditional spirit.

Visitors coming here not only get to relax in the pristine space but also experience border life, cooking with the locals, pounding rice cakes, embroidering brocade, listening to flutes and folk dances.

Tourism has become a driving force for people to preserve old values, restore beautiful customs, and improve economic life. Each visitor to Lo Lo Chai is a part of the sustainable development story of this land, where indigenous culture is preserved by the livelihood of the people.

Thanks to that, the cultural space and pristine landscape of the village are preserved and conserved, while contributing to promoting sustainable tourism development associated with the unique identity of the local people.

Quynh Son Community Tourism Village (Lang Son)

On October 17, 2025, the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) announced that Quynh Son Community Tourism Village (Lang Son) won the award "World's Best Tourist Village 2025".

Quynh Son Community Tourism Village is located in Bac Son commune, Lang Son province, within the Bac Son Uprising National Special Relic Site and Lang Son UNESCO Global Geopark.

This place is famous for its beautiful natural landscape, preserving the traditional Tay culture with wooden stilt houses, Tinh lute sounds, Then singing and living customs bearing the mark of the mountainous region.

The community tourism model in Quynh Son is systematically implemented, with the participation of local people, giving tourists the opportunity to learn about indigenous cultural life.

Visitors here can stay overnight in a stilt house, join the locals in agricultural production, weaving, making corn wine, preparing special dishes, or join in the Long Tong festival, singing then, and dancing in the middle of the green rice valley.

Not only creating livelihoods for local people, the Quynh Son community tourism model also helps preserve folk knowledge, maintain ancient stilt house architecture and natural landscapes.

The way of doing tourism here emphasizes the harmony between people and nature, between conservation and development. Thanks to that, Quynh Son has become a model of effective community tourism, recognized by international organizations./.
