Indian warship docks at Tien Sa port, visits Da Nang

A modern fleet of warships of the Indian Navy has docked at Tien Sa port, beginning a friendship visit to Da Nang city in the context of Vietnam - India towards the 10th anniversary of establishing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

On July 24, the Indian Navy fleet, including destroyer INS Delhi, anti-submarine frigate INS Kiltan and logistics ship INS Shakti, docked at Tien Sa port, beginning a friendly visit to Da Nang City. Rear Admiral Susheel Menon, Commander of the Indian Navy's Eastern Fleet, led the delegation.

The ship welcoming ceremony was attended by representatives of the leaders of Naval Region 3, Da Nang City People's Committee, Military Region 5, Da Nang City Military Command, Da Nang City Border Guard, Department of Foreign Affairs ( Ministry of National Defense ), Department of Military Security Protection and Coast Guard Region 2.

The 109-meter-long, 3,500-ton anti-submarine frigate INS Kiltan of the Indian Navy was towed to Tien Sa port, beginning a friendly visit to Da Nang city.

During the visit from July 24 to 27, the delegation of officers and commanders of the Indian Navy ship will pay courtesy calls to the leaders of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, Military Region 5, and Naval Region 3; organize a reception for the Vietnamese delegation to visit the ship; play volleyball with officers and soldiers of Naval Region 3 and visit local culture.

The ceremony to welcome the INS Delhi ship took place solemnly at Tien Sa wharf, chaired by representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Da Nang City and Naval Region 3.

This friendly visit of the Indian Navy fleet aims to contribute to strengthening the bilateral defense relations between Vietnam and India, towards the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (2016-2026). In recent years, the Indian Navy has regularly sent ships to pay courtesy visits to Da Nang City, most recently in May 2023.

NS Shakti is a Deepak-class logistics ship, designed with comprehensive maritime logistics capabilities. With a length of 175 m and a full load displacement of over 27,500 tonnes, INS Shakti is capable of carrying over 15,000 tonnes of fuel and cargo, effectively serving long-term missions at sea.

INS Delhi is a multi-purpose destroyer designed by India, 163 m long, displacement of about 6,700 tons, reaching a speed of 30 nautical miles/hour, carrying 100 mm naval guns, missiles, torpedoes, anti-submarine helicopters...

India is one of the important partners of Da Nang City, currently having direct flights from Ahmedabad (India) to Da Nang, with a frequency of 3 flights/week. The total number of Indian visitors to Da Nang in the first 6 months of 2025 accounts for about 7.38% of the total number of international visitors, ranking 2nd among 10 international markets in Da Nang.
