Special features of the self-propelled gun PTH-01 made in Vietnam have just been revealed

The PTH-01 self-propelled gun is equipped with a 122 mm caliber gun with a large ammunition load and excellent firing rate. In particular, the vehicle has the ability to maneuver underwater and on many complex terrains.

Recently, the General Department of Defense Industry ( Ministry of Defense ) introduced a number of new weapons and equipment products researched and produced by Vietnam, including the PTH-01 self-propelled gun with many superior features.

The image of the PTH-01 self-propelled artillery first appeared on September 15, when the General Department of Defense Industry celebrated its 80th anniversary. The ceremony was attended by General Secretary To Lam , Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and leaders of the Party, State, and Ministry of Defense.

At the ceremony, leaders of the Ministry of National Defense introduced to General Secretary To Lam weapons and equipment produced in Vietnam, including the PTH-01 self-propelled artillery.

According to the General Department of Defense Industry, the PTH-01 self-propelled gun has a combat weight of nearly 16 tons. The gun uses a 300 horsepower diesel engine.

Notably, the PTH-01 self-propelled gun also has a track-driven underwater vehicle, reaching a maximum speed of 60 km/h; the ability to maneuver in many complex terrains such as climbing steep slopes, crossing wide trenches, climbing high walls and climbing slopes.

In terms of firepower, this self-propelled gun is equipped with a 122 mm caliber gun with a large ammunition load and excellent rate of fire. In addition, the PTH-01 also has a chemical agent protection system and ventilation for the driver's compartment, turret compartment and an 18,000 BTU air conditioning system.

Previously, in his speech at the 11th National Emulation Congress, Major General Duong Van Yen, Deputy Director of the General Department of Defense Industry, revealed that from 2020 to present, Vietnam's defense industry has produced over 90 types of new weapons and technical equipment.

Among them, many important infantry weapons and military equipment have been successfully produced such as: infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, self-propelled artillery, naval artillery, reconnaissance and combat UAVs, low-altitude air defense missiles, combat parts for medium-range anti-ship missiles, etc.

Some types of weapons and technical equipment have high scientific and technological content, which are among the few countries that can master them, such as new generation anti-tank weapons; new generation machine guns; guns and mortar shells that have sound suppression when fired, without flash and muzzle explosion...

In the field of shipbuilding, Major General Duong Van Yen said that he has coordinated with the leaders of the General Department to successfully deploy technical work to build new combat ships, search and rescue ships, multi-purpose submarines, landing transport ships, small submarines, etc.
