Release of rare Big-Headed Turtle into the wild

On October 1, information from the Forest Protection Department of Region XIV (Quang Ngai) said that the unit had just coordinated with the People's Committee of Ba To commune and the forest owner to release a rare Big-Headed Turtle into the wild.

Accordingly, in the Ton Dung Lake protective forest area (Ba To commune, Quang Ngai province), units released a Big-Headed Turtle into the wild.

Immediately after being released into the forest, the Big-Headed Turtle adapted to the environment, moved quickly, and found shelter, in accordance with the biological characteristics of the species.

The Big-Headed Turtle ( scientific name: Platysternon megacephalum) is a species in group IB, an endangered, rare species, prioritized for protection. This species has very high scientific and conservation value and is facing the risk of extinction in the wild.
