The capacity assessment test of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education has many changes.

TPO – To comply with the 2018 General Education Program, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education changed the structure of 5/6 specialized competency assessment subjects in 2025.

According to the sample test published by Ho Chi Minh City University of Education on December 9, the competency assessment exam has 6 subjects including Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature and English.

The Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology exams include 40 questions, divided into three parts, instead of 50 questions with two parts as before.

For Literature, the test consists of 22 questions in three parts: reading comprehension (multiple choice); writing a short paragraph; essay. Of which, the writing a short paragraph is a new point compared to previous years' exams.

The English test structure remains the same, consisting of four parts: listening, speaking, reading and writing. The materials are taken from many fields.

The specific illustrative test is as follows:

According to Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, the new exam will closely follow the 2018 general education program. Grade 12 knowledge accounts for about 70-80%, the rest is grade 10 and 11 knowledge. Students will do the test on the computer, each subject has 90 minutes.

According to the annual enrollment plan, the school uses the results of this exam to recruit 40-50% of the admission quota. Students must take at least two subjects, one of which is a major subject (depending on the combination). The admission score is the total score of the major subject multiplied by two, plus the remaining subjects. The remaining quotas are used by the school based on the high school graduation exam scores, with priority given to specialized students and direct admission (national and international awards).

It is known that the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education's competency assessment exam was first held in 2022 with about 2,000 candidates. In 2024, the number of candidates participating in this exam increased to 8,500.

It is expected that in 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education will organize many exams in Ho Chi Minh City, Long An , Da Nang, Gia Lai. Currently, there are 8 other universities registered to use this exam score for admission, including: Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, Nguyen Tat Thanh, Hanoi University of Education, Hanoi University of Education 2, pedagogical schools under Thai Nguyen University, Hue University, Da Nang University and Vinh University.

Many of these schools also plan to coordinate with Ho Chi Minh City University of Education to organize the above exam.
