Stock market stagnates, liquidity drops sharply

At the end of the morning session on October 22, VN-Index decreased by 5.95 points to 1,657.48 points. Liquidity on the entire floor reached only over 391 million shares, equivalent to over 11,599.6 billion VND, less than half of yesterday morning session (over 27,000 billion VND). On the entire floor, there were 121 stocks increasing, 175 stocks decreasing and 49 stocks remaining unchanged.

On the HNX floor, the HNX-Index decreased by 0.6 points to 264.05 points. Trading volume reached more than 41.9 million shares, equivalent to more than VND863.7 billion, with 69 codes increasing, 65 codes decreasing and 55 codes remaining unchanged.

Meanwhile, UPCOM-Index increased by 0.02 points to 109.48 points. Trading volume reached more than 15.5 million shares, equivalent to more than 191 billion VND, with 109 stocks increasing, 86 stocks decreasing and 70 stocks remaining unchanged.

The VN30 basket was mixed with 15 stocks falling, 12 stocks rising and 3 stocks remaining unchanged. The main pressure came from large-cap stocks such as VRE which fell 3.61%, VIC and VHM which also lost points. On the other hand,FPT and GAS increased by more than 4%, contributing positively to the index.

The securities and real estate groups were in the red, while the banking group also performed negatively with many stocks decreasing in price. On the contrary, the telecommunications, oil and gas, and insurance groups recorded quite positive developments, playing a supporting role for the market.

The above developments show that investor sentiment is returning to caution after the previous recovery session, when the market lacked new momentum and cash flow tended to narrow.
