WATCH CLIP: (Clip goes viral on social networks)
On July 2, speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Major General Dinh Van Noi, Director of Quang Ninh Provincial Police, said he had received information about a group of 3 vehicles suspected to be "illegal taxis" lining up on National Highway 18 to block another taxi after it picked up passengers.
Major General Dinh Van Noi also said that he had directed the traffic management unit to verify and handle the matter strictly.
Previously, a nearly 2-minute clip appeared on social media, recording a taxi picking up passengers on Highway 18 (near the turnoff to Tuan Chau tourist area), then being continuously cut off by 3 other cars. Notably, when they were able to pass, the 3 cars lined up side by side and stopped to block the taxi carrying passengers.
The three cars then continued to move slowly, constantly changing lanes to prevent the taxi from passing. Two of the three cars lined up side by side had license plates 14A-068.62 and 14A-539.58.
"I pick up each passenger to earn a few tens of thousands but am constantly being oppressed by illegal taxis like this. I really hope the Quang Ninh authorities will take action," the taxi driver said in the clip.
Regarding this incident, Mr. Mac Duc Son, Head of the Transport Management Department (Quang Ninh Department of Transport) said that he had received instructions from the Director of Quang Ninh Provincial Police and established an interdisciplinary inspection team to verify and strictly handle the case.
