Temporarily open 2 sections of Ben Luc highway

The opening of two sections of the Ben Luc – Long Thanh expressway will create new directions to help reduce traffic congestion during the Lunar New Year holiday.

On January 23 (December 24), Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) temporarily put into operation two sections of Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, including: the section from Trung Luong intersection to National Highway 1A intersection and the section from Phuoc An intersection to National Highway 51 intersection.

During the temporary operation period, trucks over 10 tons; specialized motorbikes with a design speed of less than 70 km/h; motorbikes, two-wheeled motorbikes; tractors, three-wheeled motorbikes, and motorbikes (including electric motorbikes) are not allowed on the highway.

For vehicles eligible to travel on the expressway, the maximum speed allowed on the main route from Ben Luc to Ho Chi Minh City is 60 km/h. Within the intersection area, it is 40 km/h. For access roads and other branches, it is 50 km/h. The safe distance between vehicles must be greater than 35 m for a speed of 60 km/h.

The section passing through Dong Nai has a permitted operating speed of 100 km/h on the main route, with a minimum speed of 60 km/h. Within the intersection, the speed limit is no more than 40 km/h. For access roads and other branches, it is no more than 50 km/h.

The safe distance between vehicles is greater than 70 m for a speed of 100 km/h.

VEC said that during the temporary exploitation phase, road usage fees will not be collected.

The temporary operation of two sections of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway has promptly served the increased travel needs of people during the 2025 Lunar New Year.

In particular, these two expressway sections create new directions, helping people avoid traffic jams on National Highway 1 through Long An and National Highway 51 through Dong Nai province.

Currently, VEC and contractors are speeding up construction progress of the remaining sections to put the entire project into operation this year.
