The Prime Minister directed to speed up the progress of important national railway projects.

The Government Office has just issued Notice No. 376/TB-VPCP dated July 21, 2025, announcing the conclusion of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the 3rd meeting of the Steering Committee for important national works and projects in the railway sector.

According to the Notice, the Prime Minister assigned specific tasks to ministries, branches and localities to ensure the progress of key projects. For the North-South high-speed railway project, the People's Committees of provinces and cities where the project passes must develop plans and assign clear tasks to each unit and locality at the commune and ward levels to complete site clearance work in 2025 and 2026.

In particular, the Prime Minister requested the above localities to simultaneously start construction of at least one resettlement area in each locality on August 19, 2025, ensuring full compliance with prescribed procedures.

For urban railway routes in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, the Prime Minister requested the People's Committees of the two cities to proactively organize the implementation of projects according to Resolution No. 188/2025/QH15 of the National Assembly.

In addition, the Ministry of Finance is assigned to preside over resolving recommendations related to official development assistance (ODA) capital for railway line No. 2.1, Nam Thang Long-Tran Hung Dao section (Hanoi) and line No. 2 Ben Thanh-Tham Luong (Ho Chi Minh City), to be completed before July 22, 2025.

As for the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway project, the Ministry of Construction is assigned to proactively organize the separation of the project into component projects in accordance with its authority and legal regulations, prioritizing the use of domestic capital to ensure construction starts on December 19, 2025.

Regarding the North-South high-speed railway project, the Prime Minister requested localities where the project passes through to urgently establish or perfect the Steering Committee for site clearance (especially in newly merged provincial localities), to be completed before July 22, 2025.

The direction demonstrates high political determination in promoting the development of strategic transport infrastructure, creating momentum for the country's socio-economic development.
