Prime Minister requests clarification and strict handling of car crash into ditch killing 7 people

(NLDO)- In the telegram, the Prime Minister directed to urgently investigate and clarify the cause of the car crash into a ditch that killed 7 people on the second day of Tet in Nam Dinh.


Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed Official Dispatch 08/CD-TTg on overcoming the consequences of a particularly serious traffic accident in which a car plunged into a ditch, killing 7 people and injuring 2 others in Nam Dinh City, Nam Dinh Province.

In a telegram sent to ministries, branches and localities, to promptly overcome the consequences and prevent similar traffic accidents, the Prime Minister requested the Chairman of the People's Committee and Head of the Traffic Safety Committee of Nam Dinh province to direct functional agencies and units to arrange all medical conditions and medicines to treat the victims, minimize human and property losses of the people; organize visits and support to encourage the families of the victims who died in the accident.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Dinh province directly chaired a conference with relevant agencies and forces to assess the cause and deploy solutions to overcome existing problems and shortcomings, if any; and promptly clarify the direct and indirect causes related to the above traffic accident.

The telegram of the head of the Government requested the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee to direct the city's functional agencies and units to visit and support the families of the victims who died in the accident.

The Ministry of Public Security directed the Nam Dinh Provincial Police and relevant police units to urgently investigate, clarify the cause of the accident and strictly handle in accordance with the law the organizations and individuals who violated regulations, causing the above-mentioned especially serious traffic accident.

The Ministry of Transport directs relevant units to review and strengthen reasonable traffic organization on National Highway 21 and national highways with similar conditions, and enhance the safety features of the traffic infrastructure system in bridge and culvert areas to ensure traffic order and safety.

People and authorities participated in rescuing people at the time of the accident.

Previously, as reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, the particularly serious traffic accident was determined to have occurred at around 3:00 p.m. on January 30 (the second day of Tet), at Km153+500 National Highway 21 in Nam Van Ward (Nam Dinh City).

At that time, Ms. NTD (born in 1964, residing in Dien Bien ward, Ba Dinh district, Hanoi; driving license class B1) was driving car with license plate 30G-156.xx (7-seat type) on National Highway 21 from Co Le town to Nam Dinh city. When reaching the above area, she crashed into a ditch next to the road.

The accident resulted in 7 deaths at the scene, including: Ms. NTD (the driver), Mr. N.D.C. (born in 1956, Ms. D.'s husband), Ms. NNA (born in 1989, Ms. D.'s daughter), TNMK (born in 2017, Ms. A.'s son), Mr. NVT (born in 1986, residing in Thanh Oai, Hanoi), Ms. D. (born in 1991, Mr. NVT's wife), and NQM (born in 2023, address unknown).

Two injured people were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment: Ms. NNQ (born in 1991, daughter of Ms. D.), and her nephew NND (born in 2018, in Hanoi).

Both have been treated and are out of danger. One has been discharged from the hospital and the child has been transferred to the Central hospital for further monitoring and treatment.
