
Compared to the previous 15 times, VINANST-16 has a special significance in the context of Vietnam restarting the nuclear power development program and issuing many policies to promote the development of atomic energy in many areas of life, especially maintaining national security and defense.
The conference gathered more than 400 delegates from more than 80 domestic and foreign organizations, including experts, scientists , managers, researchers and students.
The program includes a plenary session and 1.5 days of working in sub-committees. The plenary session on October 8 focuses on advanced nuclear technology, international experience and Vietnam's development orientation.
Speakers from Korea, Japan, Russia, Sweden, China... and Vietnam presented on topics such as: small modular reactor (SMR) project, electron beam technology, accelerators for irradiation, the Center for Nuclear Science and Technology Research (CNST) project, nuclear human resource development... Within the framework of the event, there was also an IAEA Workshop with the theme "Experience in nuclear power project management".

Mr. Le Xuan Dinh, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, emphasized that the conference is an opportunity for scientists, management agencies and organizations at home and abroad to share research results and initiatives, contributing to concretizing the direction of General Secretary To Lam on developing the nuclear energy industry sustainably and cautiously, absolutely not trading safety for progress or scale. The industry needs to build a safety culture, master technology, invest in research, infrastructure and high-quality human resources, and prepare for the future nuclear power program.
After more than 40 years of development, Vietnam's nuclear energy has achieved many results in research, application and training, contributing to economic growth and national energy security.
The conference with more than 200 reports is an important scientific forum, orienting the development of nuclear technology to serve the goal of green and sustainable growth.

Ms. Mizonova Maria Georgievna, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Da Nang, said that Vietnam has the potential to comprehensively develop fields such as nuclear power, small reactors, nuclear medicine and semiconductor material production. Russia is ready to cooperate comprehensively in research, human resource training and transfer of modern and safe nuclear technology. The Russian Embassy and Consulates General in Vietnam will continue to support and connect partners to promote nuclear cooperation - an important field in the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Mr. Pham Duc An, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, said that Da Nang currently has more than 500 radiation facilities, mainly in nuclear medicine, oncology - radiotherapy, industry and security, which are managed safely and effectively. The city has issued plans and organized annual radiation incident response drills, improving capacity and public awareness.
With a deep awareness of the great values of applying atomic energy in many sectors, Da Nang City wishes to continue receiving support and cooperation from relevant ministries, branches, international organizations, experts and scientists to apply nuclear technology and techniques to serve the tasks of socio-economic development; environmental protection and people's health care as well as improve endogenous capacity, increase the ability to respond to current challenges.
