Ho Chi Minh City leaders pay their respects to Most Venerable Elder Thich Tri Tinh

On the evening of October 8, a delegation of the City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City led by Comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, visited the funeral of Most Venerable Elder Thich Tri Tinh, Deputy Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha's Patriarchal Council.

Comrade Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member, Standing member of the 14th Party Congress Document Subcommittee, in charge of monitoring and directing the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Comrade Tran Luu Quang, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, sent wreaths.

At Vinh Nghiem Temple (Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, Xuan Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc and members of the delegation respectfully offered flowers and incense in memory of Most Venerable Elder Thich Tri Tinh.

In the condolence book, comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc wrote: Respectfully pay respects and express condolences to the Council of Evidence, the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, and Vinh Nghiem Temple on the passing of the Deputy Supreme Patriarch of the Council of Evidence of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Dharma Master of Vinh Nghiem Temple, Head of the Trung Hau Mountain Gate: Thich Tri Tinh.

According to Giac Ngo Newspaper, Most Venerable Elder Thich Tri Tinh, Deputy Dharma Master of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha's Council of Patriarchs, passed away at 4:30 a.m. on October 8 (August 17th of the lunar calendar), at Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, after 94 years of life and 74 years of ordination.

Venerable Elder Thich Tri Tinh was born in 1932. At the age of 11, he was ordained by Patriarch Thich Thanh Khanh at Trung Hau Pagoda ( Vinh Phuc , now part of Hanoi). He is an Elder at the same time as the Third Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha - the late Venerable Elder Thich Pho Tue (1917-2021). The Venerable is also the Head of Trung Hau Mountain Gate, the Dharma Master of Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, the Abbot of Linh Phong Thien Tu, Bao An Thien Tu, Bich Van Thien Tu, Kim Son Bao Thang Tu, Bao Hai Linh Thong Tu...

The 8th National Congress of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (2017) honored him as Deputy Supreme Patriarch of the Sangha Council, where he has held the position until now.

Venerable Elder Thich Tri Tinh founded Linh Phong Thien Uyen in Vung Tau City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province (now Vung Tau Ward, Ho Chi Minh City). In recent years, due to his old age, he was invited by the Vinh Nghiem Temple to return to Vinh Nghiem Pagoda to recuperate and receive medical care.

Funeral of Venerable Elder Thich Tri Tinh

The official burial ceremony will be held at 4:00 p.m. on October 8. The coffin will be enshrined at Vinh Nghiem Pagoda (Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, 339 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street).

The funeral begins at 6:00 p.m. the same day.

The memorial service was held at 5:00 a.m. on October 12, after which the Venerable Elder's coffin was placed in the stupa at Linh Phong Thien Uyen, 122 Phan Chu Trinh Street (Vung Tau Ward, Ho Chi Minh City).
