Proposal to establish Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association at the Ministry of Justice

On October 9, Mr. Phan Chi Hieu, Deputy Minister of Justice, Chairman of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association chaired a meeting with the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Justice), the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations to promote the activities of the Vietnam - Russia Working Group and the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association.

According to the Ministry of Justice's electronic information portal, speaking at the working session, Director of the Department of International Cooperation Nguyen Huu Huyen said that legal cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation currently focuses on key areas such as criminal law, civil law, economic law and international law. The two sides have established a Legal Working Group with the participation of experts from both countries, regularly organizing seminars, talks and many professional exchange activities, achieving many positive results.

To strengthen the connection between the Ministry of Justice and the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association, promoting the role of a bridge in legal cooperation between the two countries, Mr. Nguyen Huu Huyen proposed to establish a Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association branch at the Ministry of Justice to gather a team of experienced officials with knowledge of the Russian Federation, linking the Association's activities with the Ministry's professional tasks.

The two sides will coordinate through the Vietnam - Russia Working Group, jointly organize legal seminars, workshops, academic exchanges, translation and publication of bilingual legal documents; take advantage of the people's diplomacy channel to connect cooperation between legal institutions and law training of the two countries. At the same time, promote the translation and publication of important legal documents of the Russian Federation into Vietnamese and vice versa, contributing to supporting the research and international legal cooperation of the Ministry of Justice...

At the meeting, delegates discussed the coordination mechanism between the Ministry of Justice and the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association, emphasizing the need to strengthen mutual support, promote bilateral cooperation and organize joint activities related to the functions and tasks of both sides, with the participation of Russian partners.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister Phan Chi Hieu said that in order to continue to improve the effectiveness of cooperation in the coming time between the Ministry of Justice and the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association, the two sides need to continue to create conditions in the Vietnam - Russia cooperation programs organized by each side, encourage mutual participation to exchange and learn from experiences. The Ministry is ready to support the Association in related work, and at the same time request the Association to support expanding cooperation with Russian Federation partners.

Deputy Minister Phan Chi Hieu assigned the Department of International Cooperation to be the focal point for coordination; to request the policy of the Party Committee Standing Committee and the Ministry's leaders on the establishment of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association at the Ministry of Justice, thereby further developing the cooperative relationship between the two sides. In addition, the Department needs to perfect the Vietnam - Russia Working Group, in which, the participation of representatives of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association is encouraged.
