According to Tri An Hydropower Company, at 8:00 a.m. on September 29, hydrological information of Tri An Hydropower Lake measured the upstream water level of the lake at 60,540 m.
Water flow into the lake measured at 3:00 p.m. on September 30 was 1,960 m3/s; the upstream water level of the lake reached 60.98 m; the total flood discharge to the downstream was 956 m3/s.
To ensure flood prevention capacity, combined with the low water level downstream of the Bien Hoa hydrological station, Tri An Hydropower Company discharged water through the spillway to regulate the reservoir. Accordingly, at 1:00 p.m. on September 30, the spillway was discharged with a flow rate of 160 m3/s.
At 4:00 p.m. on September 30, the spillway discharge increased to 320 m3/s; the water flow through the turbine generator increased from 750 m3/s to 820 m3/s. The total water flow discharged downstream increased from 1,070 m3/s to 1,140 m3/s.
Tri An Hydropower Company said that depending on weather developments, water levels of Tri An Hydropower Reservoir, and water levels downstream of the river at Bien Hoa hydrological station, the Company can change the flow of water discharged through the spillway.
The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Tri An Hydropower Company sent a notice to the Civil Defense Committees at all levels and relevant local authorities to direct, coordinate and notify people in the downstream area of the reservoir to proactively take preventive measures to avoid possible damage.
In recent days, due to the influence of storm No. 10, the Southern region has experienced widespread rain. The water level on the Dong Nai River in Ta Lai and Bien Hoa sections is high and is slowly decreasing.
Tri An Hydroelectric Reservoir has a capacity of over 2.7 billion m3 of water, making it the largest reservoir in the southern provinces. In addition to its main function of generating electricity with a capacity of 400 MW, supplying electricity to the national grid, Tri An Reservoir also has the function of ensuring water for daily life, agriculture , repelling salinity and regulating floods for the downstream of Dong Nai River.
