Dong Nai continues to petition the Central Government for capital support to repair 4 national highways.

On October 2, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province sent a document requesting the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Construction to allocate funds for Dong Nai to repair national highways passing through the area (National Highway 51, National Highway 1A, National Highway 20 and National Highway 56).

Accordingly, the national highways through Dong Nai have many damages, especially National Highway 51 which is very seriously damaged, with the asphalt surface sagging, peeling, rutting, potholes, and the paint system fading and losing its effectiveness. Repairing the national highways through Dong Nai, especially National Highway 51, is very urgent to ensure the safety of people and vehicles, and limit traffic accidents.

The estimated cost for comprehensive repairs of four national highways passing through Dong Nai is about VND1,365 billion; of which, the largest cost is for repairing National Highway 51 with nearly VND850 billion, National Highway 20 over VND300 billion, the remaining amount is for repairing National Highway 1A and National Highway 56.

According to the People's Committee of Dong Nai province, the province is coordinating with localities to implement a series of major traffic projects, connecting regions and Long Thanh airport such as: Cat Lai ferry replacement bridge project, Dong Nai 2 bridge project, Ring Road 3 and Ring Road 4 - Ho Chi Minh City project, road project from Binh Phuoc ward to Ring Road 4 - Ho Chi Minh City. In these projects, Dong Nai province's budget will invest about 40,000 billion VND. Due to having to allocate a large amount of money to implement traffic projects, the local budget has difficulty in allocating funds to repair national highways.

Dong Nai is a locality with hundreds of kilometers of national highways passing through. Recently, the Ministry of Construction handed over to Dong Nai the management of road traffic infrastructure assets of the above 4 national highways; of which National Highway 51 is 86 km long, this is the main traffic route connecting Dong Nai - Ho Chi Minh City with the highest traffic volume in the Southern region. In the past, the functional sector has repaired National Highway 51 many times, however, due to limited funding, the repairs are not synchronous and temporary.
