Accordingly, at 7:30 p.m. (October 5), in Ky Xuan commune, a tornado occurred, causing boats to rock and water to flood into 3 boats of fishermen in the area while they were squid fishing in Ky Xuan sea. Those boats were owned by Mr. Nguyen Van Song of Xuan Tien village, Tran Trong Tuong and Phan Hong Dang, all of whom are in Xuan Phu village.

Mr. Nguyen Van Chung, Vice Chairman of Ky Xuan Commune, said that the tornado happened suddenly so the fishermen could not get to shore, although the squid fishing boats were not far from shore. After receiving the information, the commune called on people to quickly find a way to bring the boats to shore. After a period of struggling with big waves, local people promptly pulled and successfully led the two boats of fishermen Nguyen Van Song and Tran Trong Tuong to shore safely; only the boat of fisherman Phan Hong Dang sank near the shore but due to big waves and strong winds, it could not be salvaged.

At the same time, the boat of fisherman Nguyen Van Hieu (Le Loi village, Ky Xuan commune) was fishing for squid when it encountered a tornado while on its way to shore, saving the life of Nguyen Minh Duc (Phu Hai village, Ky Anh commune) who was drifting at sea about 1.5 nautical miles from the mainland along the coast bordering Ky Anh commune and Ky Khang commune.

It is known that fisherman Nguyen Minh Duc was also fishing for squid when the whirlwind sank his boat, leaving him drifting at sea. Currently, the health of the fishermen is stable, but the fishing gear was severely damaged, and the two boats of Phan Hong Dang and Nguyen Minh Duc were submerged and have not been salvaged.
