Hai Ha Petro's tax debt has exceeded 1,900 billion VND.

According to public information on the electronic information portal of the Thai Binh Provincial Tax Department (General Department of Taxation - Ministry of Finance), as of July 2024, Hai Ha Waterway Transport Company Limited (ie Hai Ha Petro, headquartered in Diem Dien town, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province) still owes 1,915,564,616,330 ( one thousand nine hundred and fifteen billion, five hundred and sixty-four million, six hundred and sixteen thousand, three hundred and thirty-three dong ) in taxes.

On July 1, the Thai Binh Provincial Tax Department simultaneously issued 83 decisions to enforce the collection of Hai Ha Petro’s deposits at the State Treasury and credit institutions to pay into the State budget. These decisions are effective from July 1 to July 30.

Previously, on May 31, the Thai Binh Provincial Tax Department also issued 73 similar decisions to collect Hai Ha Petro's tax debt, effective from June 1 to June 30. At that time, the total tax debt of this enterprise was 1,915,540,166,330 ( one thousand nine hundred and fifteen billion, five hundred and forty million, one hundred and sixty-six thousand, three hundred and thirty-three dong ).

Thus, after 1 month, Hai Ha Petro's total tax debt not only did not decrease but also increased by more than 24 million VND. This increase is understood as the fine for the time the business was late in paying taxes.

Notably, after many times, many times the Thai Binh Provincial Tax Department issued enforcement decisions by taking money from deposits at the State Treasury and credit institutions to pay into the State budget, the total tax debt of Hai Ha Petro has increased day by day.

For example, as of the end of December 2023, the amount of tax and fee Hai Ha Petro owes to the State budget is more than 1,775 billion VND, of which nearly 1,180 billion VND is environmental protection tax.

Since then, after 7 months, the total tax debt of this one-time oil giant has increased by about 140 billion VND, exceeding the threshold of 1,900 billion VND.

Previously, as Lao Dong reported, on January 23, 2024, the Investigation Police Agency - Ministry of Public Security issued a decision to prosecute the criminal case of "Violating regulations on management and use of state assets causing loss and waste" and "Violating regulations on accounting causing serious consequences" occurring at Hai Ha Waterway Transport Company Limited (Hai Ha Petro) and related units; at the same time, issued a decision and a prosecution order against 3 defendants.

Accordingly, prosecute and issue an arrest warrant for Tran Tuyet Mai - Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Hai Ha Petro; prosecute and ban Le Thi Hue - Chief Accountant of Hai Ha Petro from leaving her place of residence for the crime of "Violating regulations on management and use of state assets causing loss and waste" and "Violating regulations on accounting causing serious consequences", as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 219 and Clause 3, Article 221 of the Penal Code.

Prosecute and issue an arrest warrant for Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh - Head of Hai Ha Petro General Department for the crime of "Violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences", stipulated in Clause 3, Article 221 of the Penal Code; for violating accounting regulations causing damage (temporarily estimated) to the State budget of over 15 billion VND.

According to the investigation agency, the above decisions and prosecution orders were issued after a period of investigation to clarify violations of the law in the petroleum business activities of Hai Ha Petro.

Earlier, on January 9, 2024, the Department of Investigation Police on Crimes of Corruption, Economy , and Smuggling (C03) - Ministry of Public Security simultaneously and urgently searched 5 locations including offices, petroleum warehouses, and residences of related subjects in Thai Binh province and Hanoi city; confiscated many documents, machinery, electronic equipment, vehicles transporting petroleum, and 1,288,406 liters of DO oil, 101,416 liters of A95 gasoline, and 129,788 liters of A92 gasoline.
