Her husband died early, Mrs. A Lang Thi Cot (Ta Vac village, Dong Giang commune) worked hard to raise her two children alone. Now, her eldest daughter is married; her son just turned 18 years old.
Despite a life of extreme hardship, after more than 25 years, she and her children still live in a house with bamboo walls of about 25 square meters . "My neighbor replaced the bamboo walls with corrugated iron, so I asked for that bamboo wall to protect my house," Mrs. Cot said.
Now, with the State's support of 60 million VND and the Dong Giang Social Policy Bank Transaction Office lending to demolish temporary and dilapidated houses from the budget entrusted through the Social Policy Bank, Ms. Cot has the opportunity to build a new house.
The new house is in the finishing stage. The son is on duty to help the construction team, saving some of the labor costs. Looking at the house gradually taking shape, Mrs. Cot shared: “I am so happy to have a solid house, it feels like a dream.”
According to Mrs. Cot, 40 million VND has been disbursed by the Dong Giang Social Policy Bank Transaction Office. As for the 60 million VND State support, the family is waiting to receive it to pay for materials and construction workers.
Living in the same Ta Vac village, Mr. Zo Ram Pi and his wife, despite having two children, had to stay at their uncle’s house. Although the local Front supported 60 million VND, the family still did not have enough resources to build a house.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh, Deputy Director of the Transaction Office of Dong Giang Social Policy Bank, said that Mr. Pi's household received 60 million VND in support from the State and also borrowed an additional 40 million VND in social policy credit, so he was able to build a spacious house and settle down.

Evaluating the social credit loans to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, Mr. Da Lay Luc, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Giang commune, acknowledged that the program has helped poor and disadvantaged households reduce the burden of costs for building new and repairing houses.
Thereby, ensuring peace of mind in production and work, increasing income; contributing to reducing the rate of poor households and households falling back into poverty in the area. People's trust in the Party and State's policies and guidelines is enhanced.
Mr. Luc said that the locality mobilized militia, union members, and youth to support workers to help poor households build houses. Many households actively exchanged work days and supported each other.

According to Mr. Do Huu Tung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Song Kon commune, policy credit plays a pivotal role, bringing practical results in eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the locality.
This is not only a deeply humane policy of the Party and State but also an important driving force for people to feel secure in settling down and escape poverty; contributing to the completion of housing criteria in new rural construction, improving the quality of life.
Through the implementation of the program, the Dong Giang Social Policy Bank Transaction Office actively advised and promptly allocated capital to localities to lend policy credit programs to beneficiaries.
Mr. Dang Van Dung, Director of the Transaction Office of Dong Giang Social Policy Bank, said that the unit coordinated with the authorities and mass organizations of the communes to promote information and propaganda about the loan policy to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses.
Actively coordinate with local authorities, unions, savings and loan groups to guide loan application procedures and quickly disburse capital to people. Up to now, the unit has disbursed more than 22.5 billion VND to 595 households in Ben Hien, Dong Giang, Song Kon, and Song Vang communes for home loans.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh informed that Dong Giang commune has 207 households that have received loans to remove temporary and dilapidated houses (according to Decision No. 873, dated April 4, 2025 of the People's Committee of the former Quang Nam province) with a total amount of more than 8.1 billion VND. Of which, Ta Vac village has 13 households, with an amount of 520 million VND.
According to Ms. A Lang Thi Thenh, Head of the Front Work Committee of Ta Vac village, the above households are in difficult housing situations, and the State support of 60 million VND is still not enough to build a house. Therefore, the social credit loan program to eliminate temporary houses is very practical, contributing to helping people escape from temporary living conditions, have a warm home to settle down and work.
Mr. Dang Van Dung said that the Dong Giang Social Policy Bank Transaction Office is currently implementing policy credit loans to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses according to the provisions of Decree No. 28 of the Government .
Accordingly, the unit was allocated 1.5 billion VND for loans in Dong Giang commune and Song Kon commune and is continuing to disburse, meeting people's housing loan needs in October 2025.
