Making craft villages members of the World Network of Creative Craft Cities:
Affirming heritage values, expanding global promotion

After Bat Trang ceramic village and Van Phuc silk village became the first two craft villages in Vietnam to be recognized by the World Craft Council as members of the World Creative Craft Cities Network (late 2024), Hanoi set a goal of having two more craft villages, Chuyen My mother-of-pearl inlay - lacquer and Son Dong painting and sculpture, become official members of the network by 2025. To achieve that, authorities at all levels, artisans and local communities must make concerted efforts.

The encroachment of sidewalks and public land on Ton Quang Phiet Street (Nghia Do Ward) has been going on for many years. Local authorities and functional agencies have taken action to clear the area and restore the clean and beautiful landscape to the street. However, after a short time, food, coffee, and car repair kiosks have reappeared, openly encroaching on sidewalks and vacant land. In addition, many service vehicles and passenger cars regularly stop and park in the area, turning the street into a miniature "illegal station".
Hanoi consumer market flourishes

In the first 8 months of 2025, Hanoi recorded total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue of more than 615 trillion VND, an increase of 12.6% over the same period in 2024.
