Electronic medical records are a system that stores and manages all patient medical information in digital form instead of paper medical records. Accordingly, patient data and information are digitized from the patient's medical records each time they go to the doctor. In particular, updated data from basic patient information such as patient's medical statements, symptoms seen by the doctor, prescribed medications, test results, X-rays, doctor's treatment plans, etc. are fully shown in the records.
To put it simply, when there is an electronic medical record, patients who go to medical facilities for examination or treatment only need to show their citizen identification card to the medical staff where they go for examination and can "rest assured", without having to declare in detail the medical condition (except for newly developed diseases) that has been treated. Medical staff enter the parameters into the computer and click to know how many times this person has been treated, what kind of medicine was prescribed, how many times X-rays were taken, which doctor examined and treated the patient... Deploying electronic medical records will bring many benefits including quick and accurate access to information, limiting medical errors, saving time and costs for both patients and medical facilities. Currently, medical facilities in Quang Ngai province are racing against time to reach the deadline of September 30 to complete the implementation of electronic medical records as required by the Government.
After merging and implementing the two-tier government model, Quang Ngai province now has 32 public medical examination and treatment facilities and two non-public medical examination and treatment facilities that must complete electronic medical records on time. The first was Binh Son Medical Center on September 9, followed by Tu Nghia Medical Center and Ngoc Hoi Medical Center... All remaining medical facilities are rushing to complete according to the set plan.
In fact, the medical facilities that have just completed the implementation of electronic medical records have brought about clear results. For example, Binh Son Medical Center receives 700 outpatients and about 250 inpatients every day. With such a large volume for a regional medical center, if the electronic medical records are not completed, it is impossible to handle such a large number of patients coming for examination and treatment.
The whole country is gradually completing “digitalization” in all fields, including electronic medical records - one of the important fields today because it is related to human life. The simpler the administrative procedures, the greater the benefits to the people.
Deploying electronic medical records is a breakthrough in medical examination and treatment for people. According to the plan, by 2030, all people will be able to have free medical examinations, once a year. This is a great effort of the State in taking care of people's lives. Hopefully, the digitization of electronic medical records will best support the above plan of the State.
