The whole province will plant more than 105,000 hectares of winter-spring rice.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in the 2025-2026 Winter-Spring rice crop, the whole province plans to sow 105,037 hectares, of which, areas I-IV (old Vinh Long province) 36,047 hectares, areas V-VIII (old Tra Vinh province) 61,509 hectares and areas IX-XII (old Ben Tre province) 7,481 hectares.

The sowing schedule is divided into 4 main periods, lasting from September 11, 2025 to January 10, 2026.

Phase 1 (1,055 hectares), from September 11 to 26, 2025, in areas with early harvest of Autumn-Winter 2025 rice and part of Trung Hiep and Quoi An communes.

Phase 2 (8,177 hectares), sowing from October 1-31, concentrated in communes of Ben Tre province (old) and part of Vinh Long province (old).

The two mass planting periods are the third (53,875 hectares, from November 14 to December 16) and the fourth (41,930 hectares, from December 24, 2025 to January 10, 2026), distributed mainly in the areas of Vinh Long (old) and Tra Vinh (old) provinces.

To ensure that this rice crop is planted safely against natural disasters and epidemics, the Department of Agriculture and Environment recommends that localities in the province, depending on the actual conditions of each place and based on the situation of rain, floods, and high tides, build a strict production schedule for each ecological sub-region; arrange the season in the direction of focusing on "avoiding planthoppers", simultaneously in each area; and should not plant seeds longer than the general schedule.

In particular, low-lying areas need to ensure irrigation to avoid damage to newly sown rice due to rain, floods, and high tides. In addition, it is recommended to increase the use of certified seeds.

Of which, specialty rice and high-quality rice account for 85-90%, rice used for processing accounts for 10-15%.

The group of varieties with wide adaptability, good for domestic consumption and export, includes: OM5451, OM4900, OM6976, Dai Thom 8, OM18, OM6162, OC10, OM1352, ST25,... and the group of additional rice varieties, including: OM380, OM34, OM429, OM2517, OM9577, OM9517, OM9955, ML202, RVT, ST20, ST24.
