Connecting institutes, schools and businesses to promote innovation and technology commercialization

On October 3, at the workshop "Promoting innovation and technology commercialization: Connecting institutes, schools and businesses for sustainable development", a representative of the Department of Innovation (Ministry of Science and Technology) shared the highlights of the Law on Science, Technology and Innovation 2025, which is the foundation for promoting innovation.

The workshop took place in the context of the whole country implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW (Resolution 57) of the Politburo on science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation. The event aimed to strengthen the connection between research institutes, universities and enterprises, promote technology transfer and commercialization of research results.

In his opening speech, a representative of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology said that the unit has issued a plan to realize Resolution 57, which emphasizes the role of science and technology in socio -economic development. The workshop had the participation of experts with presentations revolving around innovation policies, technology transfer journey, application of research results in production and development of science and technology products, building a technology commercialization ecosystem and promoting innovation at universities.

Representatives of the Department of Innovation (Ministry of Science and Technology) shared the highlights of the Law on Science, Technology and Innovation 2025, in which innovation is comprehensively legalized for the first time. Many new mechanisms are designed such as: loan support, tax incentives, granting "financial vouchers" for innovative products, developing innovation centers in each locality, ministry and branch.

The practical models presented at the workshop showed clear effectiveness in connecting research and the market. At the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH), the innovation ecosystem model with Fablab spaces, STEM programs, business cooperation and intellectual property protection has helped commercialize many technology products.

Meanwhile, social enterprise KisStartup shared the model of “open commercialization incubator”, which allows small and medium enterprises to outsource research and development activities, and coordinate with scientists to solve practical problems in the locality.
