General Secretary and President To Lam pays tribute to heroic martyrs in Quang Tri

This afternoon, October 15, General Secretary and President To Lam visited and laid wreaths to pay tribute to heroic martyrs at Quang Tri Ancient Citadel; General Secretary Le Duan Memorial Site; and national martyr cemeteries: Road 9, Truong Son.

Also attending the funeral on the central side were: Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang; Politburo member, Minister of Public Security, Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang; Party Central Committee Secretary, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Nguyen Duy Ngoc; Party Central Committee members, leaders of central departments, ministries, branches, Military Region 4 Command, Border Guard, Coast Guard Region 2, corporations and members of the working delegation. On the Quang Tri province side: Party Central Committee member, Provincial Party Committee Secretary, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Le Quang Tung; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung; members of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee attended the funeral.

The heroic 81-day and night battle to defend Quang Tri Ancient Citadel is an immortal epic, a shining testament to revolutionary heroism with the aspiration for freedom and independence, recording heroic pages in the history of the revolutionary struggle of the Vietnamese people, contributing to the victory of our army and people in the struggle for national liberation and reunification.

Coming to offer flowers and incense at the Memorial Site of General Secretary Le Duan, General Secretary, President To Lam and members of the working delegation, leaders of Quang Tri province reviewed the life, background and glorious revolutionary career of General Secretary Le Duan, and expressed gratitude and respect for the outstanding leader of the Party, the excellent student of President Ho Chi Minh, the excellent son of Quang Tri homeland who made many important contributions to the cause of fighting to liberate the South and unify the country.

At the two national martyr cemeteries of Truong Son and Road 9, in a solemn and respectful atmosphere, General Secretary and President To Lam and members of the delegation and leaders of Quang Tri province laid wreaths and offered incense at the memorial, paying tribute and commemorating the great contributions of the heroic martyrs who fought and sacrificed their lives in the two resistance wars for national independence and freedom for the Fatherland.
