Digital map opens the way for Khe Sanh tourism development

Connecting destinations

Mr. Tran Thai Thien - Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Vietnam-Khe Sanh Agricultural Tourism Cooperative, the initiator of this idea, shared: "We created a digital tourism map with the greatest desire to help tourists access and explore Khe Sanh conveniently. At the same time, this is also a tool to promote the image of culture, history, tourism and typical agricultural products of the locality to many people, to spread more widely."

Khe Sanh today is becoming a meeting point for agricultural tourism and community ecology. On the digital map, visitors can find Khe Sanh Valley Farm, where they can experience coffee picking, fishing, and enjoying clean agricultural products. Further away is Khe Sanh Camping, initiated by a group of local youth, bringing visitors to join campfire nights, cloud hunting at Huong Tan wind power plant or Quang Tri hydroelectric reservoir. Trosie Garden is also a prominent destination, both a coffee space and a place to promote clean agricultural products, creating livelihoods for ethnic minorities.

The red maple forest, Sao Sao forest or Khe Sanh Coffee Tour have gradually become key tourism products, opening up opportunities for visitors to immerse themselves in nature, enjoy the landscape and life of the local people.

Notably, the Khe Sanh digital tourism map has quickly integrated nearly 40 service facilities, destinations, farmstays and cafes. This is an unprecedented connection, as small-scale farmers now stand together on one platform. With this approach, tourists can easily select the itinerary that suits their needs, while households also promote their products and services to more customers.

Not stopping at community tourism, the digital map also connects important historical relics, evidence of a fierce war period such as: Ta Con Airport, Hill 689, Lang Vay Base, Lao Bao Prison or Pa Thien-Vo Mep, a destination that preserves the memories of the Truong Son mountains and forests.

Ms. Ho Thi Phuong, owner of Khe Sanh Valley Farm, expressed: “We are very happy to receive the code from Khe Sanh Tourism Association. This scan code shows the consensus and solidarity of the local tourism community. Tourists only need to do simple operations to get all the information, from directions, phone numbers, prices to space and menu.”

That joy is also multiplied among young people involved in agricultural tourism. Mr. Hoang Trung Truc, manager of Trosie Garden, confided: “This is a meaningful gift. Khe Sanh has many typical agricultural products, the landscape here is very beautiful, so having a promotional tool will be more convenient. Khe Sanh tourism will certainly develop more, as will local agricultural products.”

Modern tourism with digital transformation

Mr. Tran Thai Thien added: “Up to now, we have implemented a digital map in the form of putting destinations and tourist attractions of Khe Sanh on the website. In the near future, we will deploy it in a more intuitive map form, with the brands of tourism units appearing on it. Tourists just need to click on each destination to have full information to choose their experience.”

The emergence of digital maps opens up a new space for connection. Each farmstay, homestay, coffee shop, and check-in point becomes an “information node” in the common network. When linked together, they all create a modern, transparent tourism ecosystem that both supports each other’s development and brings a more complete experience to guests.

Currently, Khe Sanh welcomes an average of 250,000 visitors each year. This is a significant number of visitors for a highland commune, showing the potential for sustainable tourism exploitation. If there are more unique products and strong application of digital technology , Khe Sanh can completely become an important destination on the tourism map of the province and the Central region.

In addition to the efforts of cooperatives and the startup community, local authorities also play an important role. Khe Sanh commune has identified agro-ecological tourism as a sustainable direction, so it has actively supported infrastructure, encouraged service digitalization and connected models. From telecommunications and internet infrastructure to skills training programs for youth and women, this companionship creates conditions for Khe Sanh to not only have unique tourism products, but also have a professional approach, keeping up with trends.

Commenting on this initiative, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Dang Dong Ha said: “The Khe Sanh digital tourism map not only helps tourists conveniently search for information but also becomes a bridge connecting the community, spreading the development aspirations of the Quang Tri highlands. There, there is the creativity of the young generation, the enthusiasm of the people, and the spirit of a land rich in revolutionary traditions. When tradition and modernity are connected by technology, Khe Sanh will certainly become an attractive destination, contributing to continuing the journey of building the homeland in the digital age”.
