The 2025 Global Brands Ranking published by Interbrand shows a remarkable result: the world's most valuable car brand does not belong to Mercedes-Benz or BMW, but to Toyota.

The Japanese automaker is valued at $74.2 billion, up 2% from last year, holding the 6th position globally and the highest in the auto industry. Interbrand assessed that Toyota maintained its position thanks to its product reliability, stable global network and consistent strategy in a volatile market context.

Mercedes-Benz ranked 10th with a value of $50.1 billion, down 15% from the previous year, BMW ranked 14th with $46.8 billion, down 10%. Tesla fell 35% to $29.5 billion, reflecting the increasingly fierce competition in the electric vehicle industry. By contrast, China's BYD entered the Top 100 for the first time at number 90 with a value of $8.1 billion. According to Interbrand, BYD is the biggest game-changer in the automotive industry since Tesla, especially after its rapid expansion from Asia to Europe.

In the Top 100 global brands, the leading positions continue to belong to technology giants: Apple ($470.9 billion), Microsoft ($388.5 billion) and Amazon ($319.9 billion). Interbrand builds the rankings based on financial analysis, the role of brands in purchasing decisions and the strength of brands in creating loyalty and future profits. Despite macroeconomic challenges, Interbrand believes that the auto industry has shown “remarkable resilience” in the face of the shift to electric vehicles and multi-faceted competition between established names and newcomers.

Toyota’s continued leadership in the automotive sector demonstrates the power of a mass brand where reliability and strategic stability remain the decisive foundation. At the same time, BYD’s appearance in the Top 100 is a clear signal that the race for brand value in the automotive sector is redistributing under the influence of electrification, where traditional giants and emerging challengers are entering a completely different era of competition.
