These days, many parents across the country, especially in Ho Chi Minh City, are eagerly following their children's school schedule.

On many forums for parents and students in Ho Chi Minh City, many opinions expressed concern because compared to previous years, the school opening date was announced early so that parents could proactively arrange their plans.

Ms. Hong Anh, a parent in An Khanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, said she registered her child for a summer course at primary school. However, the course started on August 1, and since then, life has been turned upside down because there is no place to take care of the children. "I and many other parents hope to have an early school start date so that we can proactively make arrangements. If the summer break is long, we will consider sending our children back to the countryside to live with their grandparents. If the break is short, we will try to let our children stay," Ms. Hong Anh said.

According to many parents, the recent regulations on extra teaching and learning have caused many teachers and schools to refuse to accept children for fear of violating the regulations. "I even begged the teacher in the apartment building to take my child in as a babysitter, but she still refused," said Duc Thang, a parent in Hanh Thong ward.

Not only parents and students are interested, many schools now say that almost every day there are parents asking about the school opening schedule. According to the plan, when the Ministry of Education and Training issues the planning framework and time for the 2025-2026 school year, depending on the actual situation in each locality, the Department of Education and Training will submit a proposal for the planning framework, school opening time for all levels, school year summary time... for the City People's Committee to approve and issue a general plan for the city.

Previously, in early January 2025, at a training conference for principals of secondary and high schools organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, proposed that students in the city return to school early so that the Tet holiday would be longer.

At the above conference, the leaders of the Department of Education and Training informed that Ho Chi Minh City faced a lot of pressure when arranging the Tet holiday schedule for students. The reason is that Ho Chi Minh City has a large number of immigrants, the short Tet holiday schedule causes inconvenience for parents and students when they return to their hometowns...
