Da Nang: Reason for not renewing contracts with 10 administrators at the Primary School

(NLDO) - Dinh Bo Linh Primary School - Da Nang recruited 10 new administrators to replace the old ones because they did not meet the standards for boarding service.

Ms. Phan Thi Tinh Giang (born in 1968, residing in Thanh Khe ward, Da Nang city) has just sent a petition to the education sector and a number of functional agencies of the city, reflecting the termination of her seasonal contract at Dinh Bo Linh Primary School (Thanh Khe ward).

Ms. Giang was a school manager (a person who serves meals and naptime for boarding students) at Dinh Bo Linh Primary School for many previous school years.

According to Ms. Giang, she is one of the first administrators of the school, having been with the school continuously since its establishment, for more than 25 years.

During her time working, she affirmed that she had never been disciplined or criticized. Although the work was hard and her income was only 2-2.3 million VND/month, she still stuck with it because of her love for her students and considered it her main source of income to support herself.

According to Ms. Giang, entering the 2025-2026 school year, she and a number of other administrators prepared documents to resubmit to the school to renew their contracts. However, when they submitted them to Ms. Phan Thi Tam - Vice Principal of the school, a number of administrators, including Ms. Giang, had their documents rejected.

This surprised and upset her, because she affirmed that she did not violate any regulations but was not allowed to renew her contract, leading to difficulties in life.

On September 10, speaking with Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , Ms. Phan Thi Tam said that Dinh Bo Linh Primary School currently has 20 classrooms and according to practice, 20 administrators will be assigned to serve the boarding students.

This school year, the school did not renew contracts with 10 previous supervisors and recruited 10 new workers to replace them. According to Ms. Tam, the recruitment was made public on the school website and job information pages.

Ms. Tam affirmed that this was not a layoff. "When the temporary contract ended, the school did not renew it, it was not a dismissal" - she affirmed.

According to Ms. Tam, after 4 years working at the school, she realized that the 10 former administrators did not meet the requirements for serving the boarding school, while the standard is to have "a sense of responsibility, heart, and affection for the students".

Regarding not directly informing the former managers, Ms. Tam said that it was not the school's responsibility. "The school only posted information on the website. When the contract expired, they just quit," Ms. Tam said.
