Ho Chi Minh City: Four cars involved in a series of accidents in Thu Thiem tunnel, causing long traffic jams

At noon on September 19, Ho Chi Minh City authorities were still urgently handling the scene of a series of accidents involving four cars that occurred in the Thu Thiem tunnel.

According to initial information, at around 10 a.m. the same day, the traffic was traveling through Thu Thiem tunnel from Mai Chi Tho avenue (An Khanh ward) to Vo Van Kiet avenue (Sai ​​Gon ward). When reaching the middle of the tunnel, the truck with license plate 51L-696.23 suddenly collided with 3 5-seat cars traveling in the same direction.

The collision damaged the vehicles and caused panic among the people inside the cars. Fortunately, the accident did not cause any casualties.

Immediately after the incident, the Urban Traffic Management and Operation Center coordinated with the Traffic Police to regulate, divert traffic, and handle the scene. However, due to the location of the accident in the middle of the tunnel and the large volume of traffic heading into the city center during rush hour, it caused serious congestion. Thousands of vehicles had to line up on Mai Chi Tho Avenue, making it very difficult to move.

The cause of the accident is currently being investigated by the authorities.
