Bonsai-shaped bamboo has been ordered by the customer.
In the early afternoon, the August sun seemed to burn passersby, but when turning into the four-season bamboo garden of Ms. Phan Cao Hong Cam, the air had turned cool. It was even more pleasing to the eye to see the round, plump bamboo shoots, strongly pushing up from the ground.
While leading guests deep into the garden, Ms. Cam introduced: At first, we hesitated a lot before deciding to uproot the entire 4 hectares of dragon fruit, because the biggest concern was still the product output.
But with the support and encouragement of my uncle, I boldly invested and started planting 2.5 hectares. After more than a year, I saw that the four-season bamboo tree was suitable for the local soil and climate conditions, so I boldly expanded the area.
Round and plump bamboo shoots
Sharing her care experience, Ms. Phan Cao Hong Cam said: Growing bamboo for shoots does not require high techniques.
During the cultivation process, growers need to regularly clear away ineffective branches to create a well-ventilated environment, ensuring adequate water to keep the bamboo roots moist to stimulate the growth of young shoots.
Every year, you should cut down the old bamboo trees in the garden so that the young bamboo shoots can grow, and only keep 3-4 trees in each bush so that the bamboo can quickly produce large, plump bamboo shoots. In addition, you need to apply manure twice a year for the tree to grow and develop well.
After 3 years of taking root in Luong Son land, the four-season bamboo shoots have brought a good income for Ms. Cam's family.
Four-season bamboo is planted for about 8 months to start harvesting the first batch of shoots, each shoot reaches 1.5 - 1.7 kg. Currently, the price of bamboo shoots is at 22,000 VND/kg, but when the dry season comes, the quantity is less, the price will increase by 30,000 VND/kg.
Therefore, compared to dragon fruit, bamboo shoots require much less work and have not been found to have pests or diseases, so there is no need for pesticides.
In addition, the tree can be harvested year-round with green skin, no hair, white flesh, and no bitter aftertaste like other types of bamboo shoots. After boiling, the bamboo shoots have a natural yellow color, so they are very popular in the market.
The seedlings have been ordered by customers.
After 3 years of taking root in Luong Son land, Ms. Cam's four-season bamboo shoot garden is known by traders at the market, restaurants and customers from other provinces who order daily, ensuring freshness and deliciousness.
Ms. Phan Cao Hong Cam is building a bamboo shoot boiling furnace, aiming to process products from bamboo shoots.
More fun is that not only bamboo shoots, but also old tree trunks and seedlings can "make money". Currently, some ornamental garden in Lam Dong have ordered more than 50 bonsai bamboo trees, priced at 1 million VND/tree. Counting all the income from the four-season bamboo, it brings her family a good profit every year.
Thanks to the stable market for bamboo shoots, Ms. Phan Cao Hong Cam is aiming to process bamboo products such as pickled bamboo shoots, dried bamboo shoots... to diversify products, build them into unique products, local OCOP products.
At the same time, build a picnic and fishing spot for visitors. With this idea, Ms. Hong Cam was highly appreciated by the Bac Binh District Women Entrepreneurship Competition Council and won first prize in the competition.
