Implementing the Trade Union Law and Social Insurance Law into life

Kinhtedothi - On the morning of February 5, the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) held a national conference to disseminate and implement the Trade Union Law and the Social Insurance Law 2024.

The conference was held directly at the headquarters of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and online to nearly 100 locations nationwide.

Attending the Conference were Party Central Committee member, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang and leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

The conference was held to raise awareness among trade union officials about the contents of the Trade Union Law and the Social Insurance Law 2024; demonstrating the role and responsibility of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in implementing the Law, ensuring that the provisions of the Law are implemented promptly and effectively in practice. At the same time, recognizing and rewarding collectives and individuals who have made many contributions to the activities of participating in the development of the Trade Union Law 2024.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang said that the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union identified the work of participating in policy and law making as the top priority task in performing the function of representing, caring for, and protecting the rights of union members and workers; it is the responsibility of the entire system, a regular task to best care for and protect the rights of workers.

The year 2024 marks many important events for the Vietnam Trade Union in participating in building and perfecting the law. That is, focusing on building and participating in building important Law projects in the field of labor and social security such as: Law on Social Insurance, Law on amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance, Law on Employment, especially the Law on Trade Unions (amended) - a law of high political and legal nature - proposed and drafted by the General Confederation of Labor.

At the 8th Session, the 15th National Assembly in November 2024 passed the Trade Union Law (amended) with a high approval rate, creating a new legal basis for Trade Union organizations to perform well their functions and tasks, enhance their position, affirm their role and operational efficiency in the socialist-oriented market economy and increasingly deeper international integration.

Previously, at the 7th Session, the 15th National Assembly passed the Law on Social Insurance (amended), an important law that has a profound and direct impact on the rights and obligations of tens of millions of workers.

"In the process of building and participating in building the above laws, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has always received the attention and coordination of competent authorities in listening to and recording the aspirations and recommendations of workers; promptly reflecting the practical life of workers and trade union activities in the process of building and perfecting the law. Many recommendations and proposals of workers and trade union organizations have been received, recorded and reflected in the draft Laws" - the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor emphasized.

With sincere thanks for the cooperation of relevant agencies, members of the Drafting Committee, Editorial Team of the Trade Union Law Project (amended); the responsible participation of trade unions at all levels and union members, and workers nationwide in the process of building and perfecting these important laws, the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor affirmed: such contributions are very important for the draft Law to be passed with a high number of votes in favor.

According to the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the National Assembly's approval of two important laws that directly affect the rights of union members, workers and trade union organizations has created an important legal basis for trade union officials and trade union organizations at all levels to better perform their functions and tasks of representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers; and continue to innovate trade union organizations and activities to meet the requirements of the new situation. In particular, mastering the provisions of the Trade Union Law and the Social Insurance Law and promptly taking practical and specific actions to bring the provisions of the law into life is the task of every trade union official and trade union organization at all levels.
