After storm Bualoi, Ky Thinh Primary School (Ky Anh town) was almost left in the open when the entire classroom block at the main school was swept away by the storm, leaving only rubble for desks, chairs, and blackboards, and many school supplies were swept out into the fields by the wind.

The recent storm Bualoi has left both Ky Thinh Primary School campuses in ruins.

At point 1, in Canh Truong residential group (Vung Ang ward), all 10 prefabricated classrooms were blown away by the wind. What teachers and students now see is only bare ground and piles of broken tables and chairs, tilted blackboards, books scattered everywhere, some even swept out into the fields.

Mr. Nguyen Van Lam - Principal of the school sadly said: "In the previous storm, the school only suffered minor damage, but this time the entire facility was severely damaged. In addition to the classrooms, 8 teachers' offices were also swept away, desks, chairs, and blackboards were thrown into the fields by the wind, and the student parking lot was knocked over and completely deformed."

Classrooms in the prefabricated buildings were left in the open.

About 3km away, school No. 2 in Tay Yen residential group was also devastated by the storm: the roof was blown off, the garage was severely damaged, the ceilings of 7 classrooms were broken, the tiled roofs of 10 classrooms were blown away, the electrical system was completely damaged, and tables and chairs were destroyed by wind and rain. Only the television set was moved in time to avoid major damage.

Facility 2 in Tay Yen residential group (Vung Ang ward) also had damaged roofs and tiles in many classrooms.

Ky Thinh Primary School currently has 745 students in 27 classes, with 248 students in Campus 1 alone. Both schools are less than 3km apart but are now in a state of devastation. The principal and teachers inspected the damage this morning, but have yet to find a solution for teaching and learning.

“Tomorrow (September 30), we will have to let students stay home because we don’t know where to arrange classes,” the principal said. Notably, school No. 1 is located in a planned relocation area, so it has not been able to invest in upgrading it for many years. The main building was built decades ago, and the prefabricated classrooms added in 2020 are no longer intact.

Messy after the storm

Not only Ky Thinh, many other schools in Ha Tinh also suffered heavy damage after two consecutive storms.
At Thanh Sen High School (Thanh Sen ward), the storm swept through and knocked down the entire fence, blackboard, and garage.

Phan Huy Chu Secondary School (Thach Ha Commune) had the roof blown off a 3-story building; previously, storm Kajiki also caused the fence and roof to collapse, and the roofs of many classrooms to be blown off.

Thach Khe Primary School (Thach Khe commune) also had the same chaotic scene when the roofs of the entire functional room block including the library, tradition room, equipment room, team room and office canopy were all blown away by the wind.
