Destroying illegal sand and gravel mining site in Dam Rong 4 commune

On August 3, Waterway Police Team No. 1 under the Traffic Police Department, Lam Dong Provincial Police, said it had discovered a large-scale illegal sand mining case downstream of the Yan Tann Sien Hydropower Plant in Sub-area 28, Dam Rong 4 Commune.

At the time of inspection, the Waterway Traffic Police discovered many illegal sand and gravel mining activities.

Initial information, on the same morning, 2 working groups of the Waterway Police Team approached the scene, caught many people using illegal pumping and transporting sand and gravel.

At the scene, the authorities recorded Mr. Truong Van Hung (36 years old, residing in Dam Rong 2 commune) operating an excavator, scooping gravel from the stream bed onto a dump truck and dumping it into the truck driven by Mr. Vo Duc Hung (46 years old, residing in Lam Vien ward - Da Lat). There were about 6m³ of sand and gravel on the truck at the time.

Dozens of cubic meters of sand and gravel gathered on the banks and streams, preparing to be transported for illegal consumption, were caught red-handed.

Checking the scene, the authorities recorded an additional explosive rig with a sand pump, about 30m of 90mm diameter pipe, and an iron frame screening system. In the surrounding area, there was also a dump truck, an excavator and about 30m³ of sand.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh (57 years old, residing in Xuan Huong ward - Da Lat) admitted that the mining area was under his management but could not present relevant documents.

Waterway Police Team No. 1 under the Traffic Police Department, Lam Dong Provincial Police is currently expanding verification and completing documents to strictly handle the subjects according to the law.
