The event is expected to have the participation of 750 delegates, including leaders of the Party, State, leaders of departments, ministries, branches, heroic Vietnamese mothers, female heroes of the People's Armed Forces, female heroes of labor in the renovation period; leaders of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union and the Women's Unions of provinces and cities; collectives, individuals, typical women with outstanding achievements in implementing the work of the Union and in all areas of life and society.
Delivering a speech commemorating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Women's Union and summarizing the patriotic movement for the period 2020 - 2025, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front , President of the Vietnam Women's Union, said that after 95 years of establishment and development, with over 50% of the population being women, the Vietnam Women's Union has promoted its mission, closely associated with the revolutionary cause of the nation. The Union has gathered and united women of all walks of life, promoted the tradition of heroism, indomitability, loyalty and responsibility; mobilized millions of women to participate in patriotic movements, contributing to the victory of the August Revolution in 1945 and the resistance wars to defend the Fatherland as well as in the cause of national construction.
The Vietnam Women's Union has always promoted its role as a socio-political organization representing the legitimate and legal rights and interests of women; striving for the development of women and gender equality, becoming a warm common home, a reliable support for all classes of Vietnamese women. The Union's solidarity has been expanded, with diverse and attractive models, gathering a large number of women from all classes across the country to participate with nearly 20 million members, the proportion of female party members accounts for 38.1% of the total number of party members nationwide.
The work of reorganizing the apparatus of the Vietnam Women's Union according to the two-level local government model has been implemented urgently, seriously and effectively. Gender equality work has been given attention and direction (in 2025, Vietnam was ranked 74/146 countries by the United Nations, up 13 places compared to 2020). People's foreign affairs activities have been expanded; the position and role of the Union are increasingly affirmed in the political, economic, cultural and social life of the country and in the international arena.
In particular, the country's renovation has opened up great opportunities for the development of the Association and the Vietnamese women's movement. The Association has continued to inherit and promote traditional values and maturity over the past 95 years, combined with innovation and creativity in the new era to build an increasingly strong Association, ready to join the whole country in entering a new era.
“With its great contributions to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, the Vietnam Women's Union has been recognized by the Party and the State and awarded many noble titles and awards such as: Twice awarded the Gold Star Order; Twice awarded the Ho Chi Minh Order; Three times awarded the First Class Independence Order, and Labor Orders of various ranks. And today, we are extremely happy and proud, on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the Union's glorious tradition, the Vietnam Women's Union is honored to be awarded the First Class Labor Order - a noble award that the Party and the State awarded to the Vietnam Women's Union for the period 2020 - 2025. This is a great encouragement, motivation, adding confidence and spirit for Vietnamese women and the Union to continue to strive, build and develop in the coming time", Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen emphasized.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen, in the period (2020 - 2025), the Vietnam Women's Union always focuses on innovating the content and form of organization and implementation, improving the effectiveness of emulation movements to create motivation to innovate activities, improve the capacity of the Union's staff, strengthen solidarity and cohesion in the organization, arouse the will to strive, the spirit of creativity, raise awareness, qualifications, create opportunities for comprehensive development for members and women; honor and spread typical examples, outstanding collectives and individuals, thereby affirming the role of the Union in performing the task of socio-economic development, contributing to the patriotic emulation movement of the whole country.
Through emulation movements, the work of the Association and the women's movement has achieved many positive results. The work of participating in building the Party and the political system, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of women; activities to support women in economic development are increasingly professional and effective; social security and environmental protection activities are widely deployed.
“Over the past 5 years, hundreds of thousands of members have received loans for economic development and job creation; over 170,000 women's households have been supported to escape poverty, 110,000 women have been supported to start a business; 660 cooperatives managed by women and more than 10,000 women's cooperatives have been established, making an important contribution to the national startup ecosystem, enhancing the role of women in economic development. More than 650 billion VND has been mobilized to support the prevention of the COVID-19 epidemic, over 32,000 orphans have been sponsored with a total amount of nearly 200 billion VND; thousands of "Homes of Love" have been built. The Association at all levels has organized thousands of training courses, fostering skills and expertise for Association officials; promoting digital transformation in the organization of Association activities and management; enhancing the representative role, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of women and children. "The activities of building the Association and gathering members are increasingly focused on," Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen shared.
With responsibility to the Party, the State and women nationwide, the Vietnam Women's Union pledges to promote the achievements of 95 years of construction and growth; closely follow the direction of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, headed by General Secretary To Lam to concretize and effectively implement in all levels of the Union, especially tasks on innovation, science and technology development, digital transformation, international integration, supporting women to start businesses; developing the private economy, developing education and training; protecting and taking care of people's health, implementing well social security policies; building prosperous, equal and happy families, striving for couples to have 2 children before the age of 35; pioneering in implementing gender equality and preventing violence.
The Association at all levels will continuously innovate the content and methods of operation in a practical and effective direction, for the development of Vietnamese women, promote the role of members of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, participate in building a clean and strong Party and political system. Diversify forms of attracting and gathering members, pay attention to women in difficult areas, ethnic minorities in mountainous areas, islands, industrial zones, and disadvantaged women so that no one is left behind; consolidate and improve the capacity of Association officials, especially at the grassroots level, and improve the quality of members. Continue to innovate and improve the quality of emulation and reward work.
“With the spirit of “self-reliance, self-confidence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, and national pride”, Vietnamese women across the country will promote the fine traditions of the descendants of the Trung Sisters and Trieu Thi Trinh, combined with the spirit of innovation, creativity, and aspiration to rise up of Vietnamese women in the new era, continuing to promote the tradition, mettle, intelligence, and spirit of mastery, and the aspiration to contribute of women, contributing to building a strong and developed Vietnam”, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen expressed.
Within the framework of the program, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union received the First Class Labor Medal - a noble award awarded by the Party and the State, recognizing the outstanding achievements of the Vietnam Women's Union at all levels: Having outstanding achievements in innovating the content and methods of operation, performing well the representative function of caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of women, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.
Along with that, the 5th Vietnam Women's Union Patriotic Emulation Congress was held with the theme: "Vietnamese women unite, innovate, create, compete to build a developed, strong and prosperous Vietnam" demonstrating the will, aspiration and determination of women across the country in the new period. This is an opportunity to honor and spread typical examples; at the same time, continue to affirm the core role of the Vietnam Women's Union in mobilizing and organizing patriotic emulation movements, contributing to the successful implementation of the country's sustainable development goals.
The official delegates of the Congress are 340 delegates, representing 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam and the following religions: Catholicism, Buddhism, Protestantism, Islam, Cao Dai, Hoa Hao Buddhism. The oldest delegate attending the Congress: Mrs. Ho Thi Thuy, 84 years old, a member of the Women's Union of A Rong Duoi village, La Lay commune, Quang Tri province; the youngest delegate is Sergeant Ngo Thi Dung, 27 years old, President of the Women's Union of the National Training Center on Anti-Terrorism, K02, Ministry of Public Security. At the program, the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union decided to award Certificates of Merit to 81 collectives and 255 outstanding and typical individuals in various fields.
