During the visit, President of the National Assembly of the People's Power and the Council of State of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernández and President of the National Assembly of Vietnam Tran Thanh Man co-chaired the second meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee between the two countries. At the meeting, the two sides shared many experiences, recommendations and proposals to improve the effectiveness of cooperation, especially in the fields of economics , finance, agriculture, renewable energy, biopharmaceuticals... and many other areas of mutual interest. The delegates emphasized that the two countries' parliaments play a key role in promoting and deepening the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Cuba.
In his closing speech at the session, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernández affirmed that the results of this session demonstrated the effectiveness and depth of the parliamentary cooperation mechanism between the two countries, and at the same time reflected the continuous development of political relations and cooperation in all fields. He also emphasized that this session is an important next step in concretizing the agreements reached between the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and the two States, especially during the visit to Cuba by General Secretary To Lam in September 2024.

Cuban newspapers also devoted many pages to the bilateral meetings between National Assembly President Esteban Lazo Hernández and General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam, President Luong Cuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. The articles affirmed that the meetings contributed to strengthening the traditional friendship and close ties between the two countries.
Cuban media particularly emphasized the statement of General Secretary To Lam during his meeting with the President of the Cuban National Assembly: “Vietnam and Cuba are friends, partners, and brothers; and we will always support each other.” This affirmation is considered a testament to the special, loyal, and pure relationship between the two peoples that has been strong for the past 65 years.
Since 1960, the Vietnam-Cuba relationship has always been a symbol of exemplary international solidarity. The two countries established diplomatic relations on December 2, 1960, and 2025 was chosen as the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Year, to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, while honoring the lasting values of revolutionary friendship between the two brotherly nations half a world apart.
