International media recognizes the role of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in Vietnam's foreign policy.

Following the passing of Communist Party of Vietnam General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, international media highlighted the General Secretary's great contributions to Vietnam's economic development and open foreign policy.

Xinhua News Agency reported that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away.

Japanese radio and television station NHK broadcast a lengthy report highlighting General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's contributions to Vietnam's national construction, protection and development, as well as his important contributions to diplomatic relations with other countries, including Japan.

NHK TV emphasized that the General Secretary maintains an open foreign policy, diversifying and multilateralizing diplomatic relations, expressing the desire to be friends with all countries and territories in the world. Regarding relations with Japan, the report recalled the General Secretary's meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo. At the meeting, the two leaders once again affirmed that they will continue to expand bilateral cooperation.

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Comrade General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong and I have had a friendly relationship for more than 30 years, through many talks and exchanges of opinions in Tokyo and Hanoi. Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong was a friend with whom we could talk openly and sincerely about any topic or field. I am deeply saddened and mournful at the passing of such a friend. I would like to express my sincere condolences to his family, the Vietnamese people and the entire Communist Party of Vietnam.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is an inspirational revolutionary leader who has promoted the Vietnamese revolutionary spirit and contributed to the development of socialism in Vietnam in the modern era.
