Honoring outstanding works at the National Press Awards Ceremony on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity

Party Central Committee members: Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Party Central Committee member, Vice President - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chairwoman of the Council; Le Quoc Minh, Deputy Head of the Central Committee for Propaganda and Education, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Journalists Association , Co-Chairwoman of the Final Round Council; Ha Thi Nga, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Permanent Vice President of the Final Round Council attended the meeting.

Vice President - General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thi Thu Ha stated: At the meeting of the Final Round Council held on September 15, 2025, the members of the Final Round Council focused on exchanging, discussing, and reaching high consensus on the contents related to the methods, criteria for scoring and ranking the works in the final round.

Regarding the structure and number of awards for the categories of works participating in this year's competition, based on the results of the preliminary selection council, 91 outstanding works in 4 categories: Print, Electronic, Television, and Radio were selected for the final round. Based on the voting results, the final round council needs to discuss, review, evaluate, classify and agree on the works that deserve to be honored at the 5th National Press Awards Ceremony for preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity, 2024-2025.

According to the assessment of the Final Jury, this year's award has the participation of many central and local press agencies. Press works focused on reflecting on the topic of preventing, fighting corruption and negativity, also focused on propagating and reflecting on the practice of thrift and fighting waste in the whole society, strongly criticizing and condemning wasteful acts; propagating the results of the work of preventing, fighting corruption, waste and negativity in both the State and non-State sectors.

Some works are invested elaborately, expressed in the form of Mega Story such as: "Fighting against land waste - Streamlining the apparatus", "Urgent revolution for the country to rise up" of VietnamPlus Electronic Newspaper, Vietnam News Agency. The works of local press agencies are quite good in quality, with deep investment in topics, themes, and ways of expressing rich press works, following the trend of modern journalism. Reflecting and fighting against "Fear of responsibility", the mindset of working half-heartedly, avoiding, pushing, fear of making mistakes and not daring to do things among cadres and party members, especially leaders and managers at all levels; building a culture of integrity, no corruption, waste, negativity among cadres, party members, civil servants, public employees and people such as the series of 5 articles "Digital Integrity", "Administration for the people" of Dong Nai Newspaper...

Many works have exploited the topic area related to a number of current policies and regulations that are still inadequate, incomplete, unsynchronized, and easily exploited to commit acts of corruption, waste, and negativity, such as the series of 5 articles "Public headquarters after merger, effective exploitation or wasteful loopholes?" of the Vietnam Electronic Architecture Magazine; the series of 5 articles "Fighting waste in the field of science and technology" of the Auditing Electronic Newspaper; the series of 4 articles "The era of national rise" seen from the "command" to prevent and combat waste of Nhan Dan Newspaper... From there, propose and recommend to the Party and State to amend, supplement, and perfect mechanisms, policies, and laws to improve the effectiveness of the work of preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity; prevent early and from afar acts of corruption, waste, and negativity.

Many works reflect the role and results of the activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, socio- political organizations, the press and the people in participating in the fight against corruption, waste and negativity, such as the series of articles "Backyard of major cases and the degeneration of a group of leaders" in Dan Viet Newspaper.

Along with that, the works participating in the award continued to focus on deeply, boldly and prominently reflecting the determination and resolve of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, the involvement of functional agencies, the response and active participation of all classes of people in the fight against corruption, waste and negativity, which were followed closely by the people. In order to have a series of elaborate articles, many journalists did not hesitate to face difficulties, hardships and dangers, "committed themselves" to closely follow the cases, helping the functional agencies promptly intervene, clarify and strictly handle many organizations and individuals with corrupt, wasteful and negative behaviors; which were agreed upon, supported and highly appreciated by the people. There have been many works written on the topic of preventing and combating waste, on the issue of taking advantage of policies for corruption, negative phenomena in society such as the series of 3 articles "Veterans persistently fight against "internal invaders"" in the Vietnam Veterans Newspaper.

After a period of discussion, the Council members agreed to select outstanding works to be honored at the 5th National Press Awards Ceremony for preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity, 2024-2025, taking place at the end of October 2025 at the Vietnam - Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace, Hanoi and broadcast live on VTV1 channel, Vietnam Television.
