This statue is a masterpiece of Champa art, reflecting the strong interweaving of Cham and Indian cultures, crafted from dark gray sandstone, 61 cm high, weighing 13 kg, dating from the 8th - 9th century. The artifact was accidentally discovered by local people before 1945 during the process of farming in Bac Binh. In 2001, the statue was handed over to the Binh Thuan Provincial Museum (old) for management, preservation and display. The leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong said that the Avalokitesvara Bac Binh statue is one of the typical works, representing the transitional period from the 8th - 9th century plastic art style to the peak period of Champa art in the 9th - 10th century.
