Despite already having qualified, Germany surprised everyone by fielding their strongest line-up against Switzerland, with all 11 players who started in the previous wins over Scotland and Hungary present.

Thanks to that, the home team created pressure and almost opened the score in the 17th minute. From a very long distance, Andrich unexpectedly shot without giving goalkeeper Yann Sommer a chance to block. However, the referee denied this goal after consulting VAR because he determined that Musiala had committed a foul in the previous situation.

Shortly after, the German team received a cold shower from Switzerland. In the 28th minute, Freuler escaped down the left wing and crossed low. Dan Ndoye swooped in to tap the ball in from close range to open the scoring.

With the goal, Switzerland played more defensively and waited for their opportunity. They blocked almost every space, not giving Germany many opportunities.

The second half was not much different. Switzerland remained focused. Their counter-attacks even caused problems for Germany. Switzerland almost increased the gap when Vargas beat goalkeeper Manuel Neuer in a one-on-one position. However, the striker was caught offside.
