Teacher recruitment in HCMC: There are subjects where 1 person competes with 15, and subjects where only a few people take the exam.

The Department of Education and Training (DET) of Ho Chi Minh City has just announced the results of the teacher recruitment exam for the 2025-2026 school year. Of the total 9,326 candidates taking the exam, 3,909 passed, reaching a rate of nearly 42%.

This is the largest recruitment period of the Ho Chi Minh City education sector in recent years, aiming to supplement the teaching staff for public educational institutions, serving the requirements of renewing general education programs and solving the shortage of teachers in many subjects.

According to the announced results, 578 people passed the entrance exam for preschool level, 1,238 for primary level, 1,594 for secondary level and 499 for high school level.

The subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are considered to have the highest competition rates. Physics alone has a competition rate of 1/14.7 – meaning that out of 15 candidates, only one is admitted. Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics also recorded a number of candidates registering far exceeding the quota.

On the contrary, many specialized subjects such as Music, Fine Arts, and Technology at some levels have only a few applicants.

Specifically, the elementary music subject needs to recruit 180 teachers but there are only 46 candidates, the middle school level needs 223 teachers but there are only 65 candidates.

Elementary school Fine Arts needs 194 teachers but only 30 people registered, middle school level needs 235 people but only 57 candidates.

At high school level, the Technology (industrial engineering) subject needs 13 teachers but only 4 people registered, the Technology ( agricultural engineering) subject needs 7 people but only 2 candidates.

According to the Recruitment Council, after announcing the results, successful candidates must complete their application within 30 days, including certified copies of diplomas, certificates, transcripts, criminal records, health certificates and other relevant documents.

The HCM City Department of Education and Training notes that those who do not complete their application within the deadline will be considered as refusing to accept the job. In particular, if fraudulent acts such as dishonest declarations or using invalid degrees or certificates are detected, the recruitment results will be canceled and made public on the Department's recruitment portal.
