Bui Thi Xuan High School, Ben Thanh Ward (old District 1), Ho Chi Minh City, has just issued an urgent warning to all parents and 12th grade students of the school in the 2024-2025 school year about the appearance of a form of fraud targeting students participating in university admissions after receiving their high school graduation exam scores.
The announcement of Bui Thi Xuan School stated: "Currently, there are scammers impersonating staff of Bui Thi Xuan High School or universities, calling to inform them that they have been admitted, requesting money transfers, and providing ID cards to complete the application. The school requests that parents absolutely do not follow this; Do not transfer money, do not provide personal information; If there is any doubt, immediately contact the homeroom teacher for verification."
Similarly, an urgent notice has just been sent by Ernst Thälmann High School (Ben Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) to parents and 12th grade students of the 2024-2025 school year to be on guard against scammers after the 2025 high school graduation exam results are released.
In the warning, the school stated: Currently, after the Ministry of Education and Training announced the high school graduation exam scores, there may be some people impersonating teachers and staff of Ernst Thälmann High School, calling students to get personal information; Pretending to be representatives of universities, calling to inform students of their admission, then asking for payment, transfer or providing ID card, bank account, OTP code... This is a fraudulent act, taking advantage of the impatience and lack of vigilance of parents and students.
Ernst Thälmann High School recommends: Parents absolutely do not provide personal information, ID card number, OTP code... over the phone; Do not transfer money or pay money according to any unclear request; When in doubt, call the homeroom teacher or contact the school for verification.
University admission information will be officially announced on the system of the Ministry of Education and Training and of each university. There will be no notification by phone or request for advance payment.
According to information from Mr. Huynh Thanh Phu, Principal of Bui Thi Xuan High School, a student of class 12A3 of the school received a phone call claiming to be from the school's academic staff, asking the student to provide more personal information to complete the application form via the link provided by this person. Another student received a phone call impersonating the university informing them of their admission and asking them to transfer money...
Suspicious, the students then contacted their homeroom teachers for verification. From there, the school sent out a warning to all 12th grade students and their parents.
Leaders of high schools emphasized that high schools have now completed data entry for 12th grade students taking the 2025 high school graduation exam. Therefore, schools will not require students to provide additional information to complete their application. For university admission applications, students need to stay calm, carefully study the information, and if they have any questions, contact their homeroom teachers or the school for support, guidance, and answers.
