Vietnam national team list: Dang Van Lam returns, 8 U23 players added

(Dan Tri) - Coach Kim Sang Sik has just announced the list of the Vietnamese team preparing for two matches against Nepal in October. Notably, this list includes goalkeeper Dang Van Lam and 8 U23 players.

The matches against Nepal will take place on October 9 and October 14, in the third qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup. The first match will be at Go Dau Stadium (HCMC) and the second match will be at Thong Nhat Stadium (HCMC).

To prepare for these two matches, coach Kim Sang Sik (Korean) has just announced the list of 24 players of the Vietnamese team. Notably, in this list, there is the return of goalkeeper Dang Van Lam.

The goalkeeper currently playing for Ninh Binh Club was called up to the national team to replace goalkeeper Nguyen Filip.

Another notable point is that up to 8 U23 Vietnam players who participated in the U23 Asia qualifiers in early September have been added to the national team. They are spread across all lines of the Vietnam team, from defense to attack.

The list includes goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien, defenders Nguyen Hieu Minh, Nguyen Nhat Minh, midfielders Khuat Van Khang, Nguyen Xuan Bac, Nguyen Phi Hoang, strikers Nguyen Dinh Bac and Nguyen Thanh Nhan.

With the presence of young players, it is not difficult to predict that coach Kim Sang Sik will experiment with the squad for the Vietnamese team, creating opportunities for young players to mature in terms of character and experience. Nepal is a weaker opponent than the Vietnamese team, so experimentation is necessary.

However, the core of the Vietnamese team is still kept by veteran players, namely central defenders Bui Tien Dung, Nguyen Duc Chien, Nguyen Hoang Duc, Nguyen Quang Hai, strikers Nguyen Tien Linh, Pham Tuan Hai.

According to plan, the Vietnamese team will gather from October 4, right after the end of the 6th round of V-League 2025-2026.
