U23 Vietnam overcomes weaknesses before the final match with host U23 Indonesia

VOV.VN - The Vietnam U23 team returned to the training ground to prepare for the final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship, against the host team U23 Indonesia.

After a day of rest and physical recovery with light exercises in the gym, the players quickly regained their physical condition and competitive spirit. The whole team showed high concentration and determination. The good news for the team is that those with minor injuries such as Ly Duc, Dinh Bac and Quoc Viet have returned to normal training, completing the training plan set out by the coaching staff.

During the training session, head coach Kim Sang Sik focused on honing tactical moves, adjusting the team's formation and attack-defense plans, and improving finishing ability to help the team prepare thoroughly for the upcoming important match. In terms of personnel, the Korean coach is also carefully calculating to choose the optimal lineup, ensuring a balance between experience, form, and physical condition.

Speaking to the media, striker Nguyen Dinh Bac said: “This is a very important match. I feel that the whole team is well prepared and in a good mood. We have carefully analyzed the playing style of U23 Indonesia. They are a strong opponent with many quality players. The whole team will play with the utmost determination and passion.”

Regarding the news that VAR may be applied in the final match, Dinh Bac said that this is a positive signal: "VAR will help the match be fairer for both teams, especially with the importance of the final. We will try our best to show our best performance to win," Dinh Bac emphasized.

When asked about the pressure from the home fans at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Dinh Bac said: “Many of us have played in the U19 tournament here, so we are not too surprised. The team spirit is very determined, ready to put aside all external factors to focus on competing and bring glory to the Fatherland.”

Dinh Bac also frankly admitted that finishing ability is the point that the whole team needs to improve: "We missed many opportunities in the last matches, myself included. In the remaining two training sessions, the whole team will try to find the feeling of scoring goals to be ready for the final match."

The final match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Indonesia will take place at 8:00 p.m. on July 29 at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium. This is the third consecutive time U23 Vietnam has participated in the final match of the Southeast Asian U23 tournament, after winning the championship twice in 2022 and 2023.
