They are still ranked second in Group G, behind the representative of the world futsal powerhouse Iran. Malaysia has the same 6 points as Iran, but is temporarily ranked lower due to lower sub-index.
The Southeast Asian team with the second biggest win in the second round was the Vietnam futsal team (ranked 26th in the world). The team of coach Diego Giustozzi (Argentinian) defeated the Chinese futsal team 7-2.
The Vietnamese futsal team continues to lead Group E with 6 points after two wins, along with a very high goal difference (March 16). The Vietnamese futsal team is 2 points ahead of second-placed Lebanon, after Lebanon was unexpectedly held to a 1-1 draw by Hong Kong (China) yesterday afternoon.
Another team that scored 7 goals yesterday was the Myanmar futsal team (ranked 56th in the world). This team beat the Maldives team 7-3 in Group H.

This is just the first match of the Myanmar futsal team in the Asian qualifiers, because their group only has 3 teams (Myanmar, Maldives and Afghanistan), each match day only has one match, two teams compete and one team will rest.
Meanwhile, the most traditional futsal team in Southeast Asia, Thailand (ranked 11th), easily defeated Bahrain 4-0 in Group B. Thailand is also leading this group, having won all two matches, owning 6 points and a goal difference of 19/1.
On the other hand, Southeast Asian teams suffered defeats in the second round of the qualifying round, including Timor Leste (ranked 108th in the world), Cambodia (ranked 126th in the world) and Brunei (ranked 117th in the world). In Group F, Timor Leste lost 1-7 to Uzbekistan. In Group C, Cambodia lost 1-7 to Tajikistan. In Group B, Brunei lost 0-3 to the South Korean futsal team.
However, the failures of Timor Leste, Cambodia and Brunei are not surprising, as these teams hardly set any goals in international tournaments.
