Vietnam - Laos strengthen special friendship in police force

On September 1 in Hanoi, Mr. Le Quoc Hung, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Chairman of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association in the People's Public Security, received a delegation of the Laos - Vietnam Friendship Association led by Mr. Boviengkham Vongdara, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Technology and Communications of Laos, Chairman of the Association on the occasion of the delegation's visit to attend the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day. The two sides affirmed that the special friendship between the two countries, especially in the public security force, is increasingly deepening, effective and sustainable.

Also attending were leaders of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association and the Asia - Africa Department ( Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations ).

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung expressed his joy at welcoming the delegation at a time when Vietnam is preparing for the 80th National Day celebration. He emphasized that the event of Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith leading a high-ranking delegation to Vietnam to attend the ceremony and Laos organizing a solemn rally in Vientiane (Laos) is a vivid demonstration of the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

He said that although the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association in the People's Public Security has just held its first congress, it has been operating practically and effectively for decades, always supporting Laos promptly and comprehensively. In just 3 years, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security has helped build 244 police headquarters along the Lao border, equipped vehicles, built the Lao Ministry of Public Security Political Academy with a budget of nearly 400 billion VND, implemented the project of population management system and citizen identification, modern drug rehabilitation center, command center of the Lao Ministry of Public Security... These projects are considered by Lao leaders as symbols of special friendship between the two countries.

In addition, the police forces of the two countries regularly coordinate to fight against drug crimes, human trafficking, and cybercrime, contributing to maintaining security in the Golden Triangle region. Vietnam also focuses on training and fostering officers for the Lao Ministry of Public Security at many levels, aiming to build a new generation of officers up to the task.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung affirmed that, in addition to regular tasks, the Ministry of Public Security and the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association in the People's Public Security are ready to support the needs and remove difficulties of the Laos - Vietnam Friendship Association, from methods, strategic orientations to facilities, so that the Association's activities are more practical and effective. He emphasized that the goal is to jointly implement the policies and guidelines agreed upon by General Secretary To Lam and General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, making the special Vietnam - Laos relationship a model that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.

Expressing his honor to attend the ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day, Minister Boviengkham Vongdara affirmed that the victories of the Vietnamese revolution are a great source of encouragement for the Lao people in their struggle for independence. He emphasized that the Laos-Vietnam friendship is a priceless asset, unique in the world, forged with the sweat, blood and lives of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and people.

The Minister highly appreciated the practical support of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security in recent times, especially the projects to build facilities for the Lao police force, drug rehabilitation centers, population data systems and electronic citizen identification cards, considering this an important foundation for the process of building a digital government and digital economy in Laos. He also congratulated the Congress of the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association in the People's Public Security, considering this an example for Laos to build a Laos - Vietnam Friendship Association in its police force.
