Vietnam hosts first semi-professional hybrid chess tournament

Recently, FPT Play and the Vietnam Chess Federation (VCF) have agreed on many cooperation contents to develop chess. Among them is the coordination to organize the first semi-professional hybrid chess tournament in Vietnam.

According to the signed content,FPT Play will accompany VCF for 3 years (from 2025 to 2028) as an organizer, producer, and media unit. VCF will be the co-organizer, professional sponsor, and official media of the activities. This agreement will start with the E.Chess Open Cup 2025.

This is the first semi-professional chess tournament in Vietnam organized with two combined competition formats.

The group stage takes place online through professional online competition platforms, combined directly at 4 locations.

The final round is scheduled to take place live at My Dinh Indoor Athletics Palace ( Hanoi ).

The tournament has 7 groups, including Open group (regardless of age) and groups from U6 to U11, aiming to develop the Vietnamese chess community.

E.Chess Open Cup 2025 offers a valuable opportunity for semi-professional players to learn and interact with chess grandmasters and masters. The tournament is scheduled to take place at the end of September 2025.
